What's the difference with this one? It's definitely SPS

Not sure tbh. There's definitely a difference in placings from this one going by last year's precedent.

Perched for the All Formats and Vinyl placings :gaylorcat2:

This is all formats. Bad Bunny wouldn’t be top 10 on the sales or vinyl charts, let alone #1.

Not sure, she doesn't have physicals and she's not as big WW as she is in the US (even though she's doing good)

Yeah, I mean, I’m no expert on this stuff but isn’t Midnights doing better in the UK, Germany, and probably some of the other top 10 key markets compared to SOS? (I could be wrong about the UK*, I haven’t been keeping up with that)

The IFPI Global Album All Format Chart takes into account all consumption
formats, spanning physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming platforms
across a calendar year. It is weighted based on the relative value of each
method of consumption.

The IFPI Global Album Sales Chart combines global sales of physical albums
and digital album downloads to rank the top albums in a calendar year

This one is definitely all-formats, otherwise UVST wouldn't be leading

She might be #2 on the albums chart, but the reason she's #1 on the artist list is because she's always near the top. The consistency across the years is unmatched :clap3:

Yeah and same in Asia (+ probably LATAM). Midnights is also doing better in Australia (even though she fell to #5 this week).

She's showing a UVST longevity.. Hope she maintains it throughout the year. :dancehall:

But wait, Morgan is coming. :deadbanana:

Are you sure SZA will be ahead of UVST in 2023:redface:

wait, USVT is doing better than Sza in 2023? Really?

It's just people being wrong on Wikipedia.

But UVST was HUGE in LATAM.

And how would the person that edits that know anyway?

This 100% cannot be just pure sales otherwise Bad Bunny wouldn't be #1. This list very obviously includes streaming.

You’re correct, Midnights is doing better literally everywhere (even in the US, regardless of weeks at #1 or whatever). Midnights is probably the front runner for 2023 as of now but it could absolutely go to Morgan Wallen actually :rip: he’s gonna sell so much in the US alone that it may get him there.

If Bad Bunny releases though we all know it’s going to him and it wouldn’t be impossible for a Kpop album etc to take it too. So it could go to anyone.

Who cares if she's #2 think about this for perspective.

She was #4 when Susan Boyle and the BEP were last relevant.

She was #4 when Lady Gaga and Eminem ruled the world.

She was #2 the time Adele's 21 first ruled at #1.

She was #2 again with the first Frozen Soundtrack at #1.

She was #3 again when Adele and Ed Sheeran came onto the scene again.

She was #2 again when Ed Sheeran peaked with Divide

She was #2 again when ARASHI disbanded with ALL THE BEST!!

She was #4 during BTS' peak when they occupied the Top 2.

She is #2 again with the biggest artist in Latin America (who only debuted in 2016) blocking her.

She has survived 12 years of artists' rise and fall, she has weathered the Black Eyed Peas, Gaga's short reign, Adele's short reign, Frozen's domination, Ed Sheeran's peak, BTS' and Drake and she will still be here for YEARS to come!

Who cares if she isn't #1 she will continue to chart long after these artists fade into irrelevance :jonny5:

What short Adele reign lol….

Adele was

#1. 21 — 2011
#1. 21 — 2012
#1. 25 — 2015
#2. 25 — 2016
#1. 30 — 2021

4 #1s with 3 albums over a decades span.

For example, After Hours was #5 on All Formats last year but missed the main chart's top 10 altogether. This is what I mean in that they differ.

Last year, Ed's = was #5 on the main one and #4 on All Formats. Happier Than Ever also missed the top 10 on the main one but placed at #5 on All Formats.

Who cares anyway, she only had the #1 in 2021 because of HUGE shipments. Otherwise, Olivia was #1.

SOS is only really that big in the US. I wouldn't even be surprised if she ranks behind Midnights next year.

Bad bunny deservedly at #1. He might repeat in the top 2 in 2023 too depending on how he, SZA, and Taylor hold and whether or not there’s a smash album later this year (Miley and Morgan being the main threats). He showed that you can be #1 even with just 20k sales so now anyone who dominates Spotify has a fair shot at #1

Because the "main chart" is only about pure sales. All of them are huge in streams so it makes sense they'd chart higher on the all-formats one, especially with kpop acts around.

Appreciate the confirmations :lakitu:

Yeah Morgan would have to move about 5-6M US units, or a big Kpop album would have to release to snatch the #1 from Midnights then, imo.

SOS physicals could help bridge that gap but I kind of doubt it. And Bad Bunny could get a #1 album again but I think he said he’s not releasing this year. Idk if I believe artists when they say that though :rip:

It’s always that when it’s Adele lol.

She was #1 in all 3 charts multiple times. Nothing you say changes that.

taylor got beaten by someone with practically no physical sales

Why would a random Wikipedia editor mean anything when it’s just simple logic that BB sold next to nothing in pure sales, so it literally has to be an SPS chart for him to be #1 :rip:  (this probably sounds rude but I don’t mean it with any hostility, I’m just saying it is 100% overall consumption)

SZA is ahead so far, but not by super much. Without a deluxe or physicals I absolutely think UVST would be ahead after the full year

Because Adele sells a lot in physicals, it's no secret 30 had a lot of (and too many) shipments, come on :skull:

Taylor was "beaten" by someone who released way earlier in the year and that had an amazing longevity, not sure how it's shameful, especially since she would probably be #1 with 2-4 extra weeks :rip:

Bad Bunny is most likely not releasing this year.

Nah that's not it. UVST is like 5 times bigger on Spotify than any album ever. It's not anyone.

But yeah just looking at global Spotify streams obviously becomes more and more important for this list
