It's because of Lights, Close to me, hate me and her other hits.

 

Ofc it's a bad estimate but it should be close enough. Minimum of 4b I'd say

 

It's funny because all of Ellies singles are usually bigger in the US than Europe except her covers.

Ok fine let's assume she did in fact do 43b streams. That only adds upto like 30 million song units. Did she sell 180 million pure then? Absolutely impossible

1 year ago in 2018 Rihanna was the first artist to hit 2b apple music streams 

 

1 year later in 2019, Ariana was able to surpass Rihanna and gained around 1.2b streams in a ONE YEAR on apple music.

 

It's been 5 years since 2019. Streaming has taken over the world by storm. If Ariana was able to gain 1.2b streams a year then that means she would be at 10b streams on apple music already (or even more).

 

I agree my estimation for Ellie's apple music streams were very off (I didn't even do research) but the YouTube streams were able to offset my estimation of apple music streams (I made it from 9b to 4b which is very reasonable I'd say - you can even make it lower if doesn't matter)

I think they used a different method to count sales. CSPSC or whatever that method was. 

 

Chart masters likes to use AEU when counting sales for artists but Amazon/Polydor/IFPI uses something else.

 

Like I said, love me like you do sold 13m copies in 2015 alone so the graphic you see is more than reasonable imo if you use their method of calculating sales.

 

After all they are official companies and they have no reason to inflate numbers.
