Hector Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 (edited) Love the movie. So far it's an 8 episode limited series but "there is a possibility to go beyond the first installment if it's a hit,” according to the report from Deadline: https://deadline.com/2023/02/ripley-showtime-andrew-scott-netflix-limited-series-1235255479/#comments Edited April 5 by Hector
Rachel Berry Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I’ll watch anything with Andrew Scott in it.
Gossip_Boy Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Given the success of Dexter and how desperate Showtime is to repeat it, I'm surprised they passed on this.
Hector Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 Andrew Scott serving excellence again after All Of Us Strangers
vale9001 Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 This novel is cute but doesn't deserve a 380th adaptation. Can they came with something new?.

Lovett Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I don't know anything about the source material tbh but I'm excited for this!
Daddy Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I can't wait to see Eliot Sumner in this! They are one of my fave music artists (the daughter of Sting) and they serve in this trailer
Hector Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 (edited) So having just finished this, I appreciate that this interpretation of the story is different from the 1999 film version, though I still much prefer the film to this day. Pros: 01 The Cinematography & the way each episode was shot are gorgeous. 02 Andrew Scott is playing Ripley very precise and calculated. A very good and dedicated performance on the whole. 03 Dakota Fanning is playing Marge in a much more humanized and controlled fashion compared to Gwyneth Paltrow. Much less shrill too. Cons: 01 Andrew's Ripley is much less charismatic & charmless than Matt Damon's version, which is very disappointing. 02 Not only do I prefer Jude Law's depiction of Dickey over Johnny Flynn's but he also had much better chemistry with Matt Damon in the film version than Scott has with Johnny Flynn. 03 The queerness is much more downplayed in this TV adaptation than the film version (except for who plays Freddie here). Again, I love that this version is different enough from the film version to be its' own entity but I still prefer the 1999 version. Edited April 5 by Hector
