No, too many people (including me) like the younger/older idea. Maybe be more open minded? :michael:

no cause these reinforces the stereotype to the masses that this is the only romance cliche we have and to hold onto it is just not it. to be more open minded we need to see more than just queers having unhappy endings or the dad and boy trope.

Says who? Lol

You act like every gay obsessed over daddies and that's probably not even half the gay community.

Go get some daddy dick and come back when you convert. :gaynetcat4:

literally check anywhere and you see. it's always some strange daddy and boy trope. it's creepy. more appropriate and versatile love stories for us queers please. enough with the bottoms with daddy issues and a father figure fetish

I watch a LOT of queer cinema and the "dad and boy" trope is certainly not the "only" trope we have. It's not even the most common. I would say the main 5 plots are:

- Married gay falls in love with out gay man and cheats on his wife, but doesn't leave her

- Young gay discovers sexuality by falling in love with his friend, who he either stops talking to or kills to avoid coming out

- Two adult gays fall in love but one or both has AIDS and dies

- Young gay falls in love with daddy figure, experiences first heartbreak

- Gay working in remote location hires a contractor of some kind who ends up being gay and they have an affair that works in the wilderness, but can never translate to the real world

So as you can see, the trope you named is just one of many.
