Domination Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Between this and charging to use the api… what the **** is this business model?
Zoomer Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I’ll believe when it comes from an official source.
Gwendolyn Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Doing EVERYTHING but getting rid of those chinese video spam bots
KingWitch Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Elon is clearly just trying to make the most money from this ,nothing about it is even sensible . Wonder how long Twitter has left ?
ItsMaxx Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Gurl bye, Twitter is not that kinda girl to be acting like this
Stan.killah Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Most companies that advertise on Twitter are multi-million or billion dollar companies. $1000 is pennies to them. Advertising on Twitter has benefits for the company if used right.
Gladiator Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) This is a great idea. Like someone said, $1000 is a drop in the bucket and social media does way more for a company than one would think. Even in the industry I work in, I work in marketing in mortgage and I am shocked how many people come through TikTok. I remember laughing when we were considering marketing that and making a social media presence there, and now sales folk predominantly focus on that even over Facebook. Being verified on Twitter is important for businesses so customers know they are the real account, some would probably consider it essential for their budget to set aside those funds to ensure they are verified. And generally when someone needs to contact customer support, they seek out Facebook and Twitter accounts first. Edited February 5, 2023 by Gladiator
Guest Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 This monetisation method sets a dangerous precedent. Much like how Sony started charging to play playstation games online because Microsoft had already done the same and gotten away with it. I fear instagram will be asking for our $$$ soon.

Do u have or need a verified tick? The platforms still remain free for all users. Have no idea why it is an issue?

The function of the tick is to prevent impersonation; so those who would normally be deserving of a tick stand to have the tick gate kept if they don't wish to pay, which can cause issues for those people/businesses. Imo it's not the correct way to monetise these platforms.
