Bears01 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/01/31/imf-downgrades-uk-growth-forecast-predicting-only-decline-in-g7-.html Economic forecasters are now predicting that the U.K. Will be the only major economy to decline this year. Forecasters are also saying their economy is set to suffer worse than Russia, a country under a mountain of sanctions…. It begs the question: is the U.K., after already suffering a massive cost of living crisis, on a steep irreversible decline, in part because of a decade+ of torie rule, and the U.K. Citizens voting to leave the European Union? And If not, what is their saving grace?
Mr.Link Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Brexit was the prime example of why democracy sucks sometimes. Not every John Doe in the streets should be able to decide on important matters like that. It is a crucial decision which should only be taken by informed individuals.
Both Sides Now Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Yeah, it’s sad to see so many institutions crumbling. You have to ask yourself what is a Western state suppose to provide for its citizens? Healthcare, housing, transport, law enforcement, education… Literally all collapsing and striking under horrible conditions. That’s what happens when you have a Tory government for over a decade. I think big cities like London and Manchester will survive due to foreign investment but it’s over for minor cities and rural towns. It’s ironic, sad and predictable that the people who voted for Brexit and the Tory governments are the ones who will suffer the most. And they’ll vote for them again and again.
Tropez Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Is the UK now a 3rd world country with a Gucci belt?

Madonno Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 This is one of the prime examples of how dangerous are the Fake News. The antics some media has been puting in trying to spread misinformation is a danger for democracy.
John Slayne Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 it's definitely in a big decline and not just economically, but socially and politically too. it is absolutely reversible though, we just need to lock up all the middle class white people come the next GE and stop them from voting Tory again
theweekend Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Oxford Street's Primark is truly what UK looks right now like it looks like it's going to collapse every moment from now. good luck sistrens
Zack Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 They need to ditch the Conservative party mass of corruption running the country. Maybe then things could improve back to normal levels (gradually).
byzantium Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 If only the EU could help bail them out of the disaster of their own making.
katykater Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 They are like how the Italians went from being as rich as the Germans, French,... to being as poor as the Spanish. The economy and living standards can drop if people/government aren't choosing wisely. I wouldn't be surprised that the next generation British would dream of working in Warsaw. The long term consequence of the war in Ukraine can be shifting power from Western Europe to Central/Eastern Europe.
BtDecember Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Can they still go back as an EU member? It’s quite sad tbh, they were humbled.

Bringing collapse of economy with me wherever i go Maybe I should stop stanning Britney so maybe she'll have a big album again
harwee Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Truly incredible. Many consider Brexit's huge impact, but its been irreversible for 50-70 years now. The english monarch just kept that first-world facade for quite awhile. A mess if she becomes some sort of protectorate in the next 20 years of India which is projected to become the 2nd biggest economy.
Robert Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) Some members are exaggerating but the UK is very much on a downward trajectory and it’s unlikely to change especially with the possibility of Scotland leaving the union and no real opposition government (just Tory lite). The UK still has a few advantages though such as being an anglophone country and London is still a finance capital. Brexit was the final nail in the coffin for the UK ever reaching it’s former relevance though. Edited February 3, 2023 by Robert
MonsterJohn Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Good, that colonizer country deserves after they stupidly voted for brexit

popmusicisdead Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 they should've gone with Legend Liz to the grave
Gwendolyn Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 As a British Youth, this country is going to the pits. It's tragic how nobody my age even has hope anymore, the government, food has gone up and we're striking everyday. I'm thinking of moving to France - I hate the Tories with my life, I hope it will get better soon but I dont know how soon.

It would take a long time for this to change completely. It is also the world’s capital for financial crime too https://www.reuters.com/business/london-is-top-global-finance-centre-lags-key-areas-says-study-2022-01-27/ 1 hour ago, Gwendolyn said: Paris overtook London as the Europe's Largest Stock Market in November https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/paris-london-stock-market-bloomberg-b2224731.html This isn’t entirely due to Brexit tbf. A lot of French luxury brands (including Louis Vuitton which is worth £350bn alone) have skyrocketed over the last 6 months. London overtook Paris again a couple weeks later.
Theshigo Washidu Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Yes. Although I think the Tories should be out of the government, the damage seems irreparable and would be an uphill battle for any other party to rectify.
