Ugh I bit the bullet and went to buy a ps5 today so I didn’t have to deal with Leon’s ugly last gen face and it’s taking over an hour to do a ps4 transfer

I should have just skipped it. I regret my life choices

Sony's plan worked. :skull:

OT: The game is so good.

The way I held out for Village, Hogwarts legacy, the Dead Space remake, TLOU remake, etc but not for a game I’ve essentially played already on GameCube, Wii, ps3, ps4, and switch :gaycat7:

What’s more pathetic? That I bought a console to play this game on current gen or that I bought the original version 5(!!!) times over the years??? :skull:

I get it though because the demo looked noticeably worse on PS4. Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices in order to be able to fully appreciate Leon's HD hair. :jonnycat:

That's wild, tbh. :rip: But also so valid. Can't wait to read what you think about the remake once you get it.

We’re on chapter 4 or 5 already. I’m not really impressed :rip: it’s way too campy/silly and barely horror. Like, Leon’s spartan kick and close combat makes it look like a cheesy action film.
same with the dialogue, and some of the enemies - the mutated wolves look like venom.

Babe this is Resident Evil 4. But besides that, every single character interacts with Leon (who still makes corny jokes- charm of the original) in a far more believable manner. The writing on this is great.

They literally remade the game with some minor changes and it was advertised as such, I don't know what you were expecting

Right, like maybe @Brunette Ambition has never played the original but girl you just summarized the game exactly

The original was campy and funny and thus critiqued for reducing the horror aspects (while 5 and 6 removed them even more), but was still lauded as a perfect game.

If you came in expecting a horror game in the same vein as the other remakes, that was an incorrect assumption unfortunately. I actually thought they maybe made the game too serious after playing the demo, but it seems they struck the right balance in being faithful to the original but also basing it in more realism (ie the rockslide trap replacing a giant boulder chasing you in chapter 1)

I'm almost at the final chapter! The game is AMAAAZING!

I wanted to hold off on saying anything about this remake until it sat with me for a few days. The longer I think about it, the more disappointed I am, unfortunately. Is the game great on paper? Sure. It’s a good game. Now is it a great remake? Not necessarily.

The Wii version of this game remains unmatched, idc. Argue with the IRS, not me!

not me starting a new playthrough on NG+/Hardcore difficulty the second I finished the game. Totally diff experience, I screamed when Dr. Salvador CHARGED at me with the chainsaw :ahh:

I never played the OG and I do like this so far, but I think I preferred the style and simplicity of the 2-3 Remakes.

I let the base flop into oblivion because I moved the week RE4 launched and got distracted by life. It took me two months to finally play the game :deadbanana4:

Anyways the DLC is out today and I finished the first two chapters! Ada doing acrobatics with that damn zip line will always be my fave. Her voice actress is still stumbling through mud though :cm:

Ok so the DLC was...fine.

Ada's character seems disjointed between how she acts when she's alone (has emotions) compared to when she talks to others (cold).

I found the boss fights to be extremely frustrating at times. If you're already injured and mid animation of recovering, I found it was really hard to press O to evade the following attack, resulting in either a lot of health lost or instant death with very little of that being player's choice. Don't give me the prompt if I don't have a choice.

The length of this annoyed me given RE3R is basically shorter than a $10 DLC...not this particular game's fault but Jill's arc remains such an underdeveloped portion of the remake timeline.

RE2R remains the blueprint imo.

Would prefer a Code Veronica remake instead of 5 but we'll see what happens. 5 is such an ugly game imo :deadbanana4:

Just bought the DLC.. I died almost instantly because I don't know where the catapults are coming from and I kept running in circles :rip:

Not sure if it was just because I hadn't played in a few months, but I was finding Evading/Melee attacks harder to consistently hit.

I played the first two chapters last night, awesome overall except for the voice, my god it's frustrating to listen to her.

We need revelations 3 focused on Carlos and ada. Hunk and Rebecca can make cameos.

Wow a HIT game when you cut the fluff :clap3:

No but really I have never understood everyone’s fascination with faceless Hunk :biblio: Like I am always serving  no1curr but everyone else wants to see more of him

I need them to continue the Alex/Natalia story, such a shame Alex was used in a spin-off game that has a lower budget than the main line games.

She deserved better.

Wow 10000%. But I also strongly dislike rev2, while rev1 is probably in my top 3 RE games. I know I’m in the minority but there was so much in that game that bothered me.
