Even if you decide not to because of this new rule, you're a small percentage. Those who were using a shared password wouldn't be paying anyway. And now you have to resort to buying a subscription. So it's a win for Netflix either way There are soooo many people that are sharing their accounts AND the subscription fee. And many will cancel bc of that, so in the end I'm pretty sure it will be a loss for them.
Hurem Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 I'm screaming at people being mad and threatening to leave Netflix if they'll have to pay for it Do they realize Netflix isn't losing anything if you stop using Netflix, but are not paying anyways?
ChrisTheLoner Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 They're over Disney+ and Prime outsold anyways
popmusicisdead Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 not some people saying only people who don't pay are mad. i pay for my subscription which i share with my family and i won't stand for this anti-consumerist crap. now excuse me while i goteach my mom how to use 123*****.*** on her TV
Lana Banana Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) I’ve never paid for a subscription of this kind, it’s all on the internet for free anyway If it’s on a streaming platform, it’s definitely out there for free in HD. But Netflix are a bunch of losers for doing this. What‘s gonna be the point of profiles now? Edited February 2, 2023 by Lana Banana
GraceRandolph Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Netflix should really charge everyone per eyeball when you think about.

Kamil24 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Also, how will they decide which is the home network? I share mine with 2 friends - one of which opened the account like over 5 years ago, and doesn't live there anymore. Both of my friends moved recently, so really my network is the one that the account has been on the longest (2.5 years). So will they get blocked out of their own account?

You cannot possibly expect people not to want or expect to share digital services that have no tangible location/physical presence. Apple recognized this and created a family plan for Apple Music. Many people understood Netflix’s 4-screen payment tier to be the equivalent to that. You don’t expect this from digital services like Netflix because they pioneered the model and they didn’t start with that approach. Everyone else copied them. If Netflix did this from day one, everyone else would be doing it too - and if they get away with it now, everyone else will start to do it. Again I am not saying it’s right, or that I agree with it at all (because it is anti consumer) - but you are basically arguing for account sharing as a human right when it’s not Edited February 2, 2023 by youreyesgocold
Myah Marie Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Can't wait to see "The Pirate Bay: The Celebration Tour" OT: even though it's understandable, they're gonna lose even more clients after this.

Its kind of stupid though that Netflix can't detect you are the same person, for example, logged in on your laptop, or in a hotel which has its own account. It just means you want to use your own account. They're definitely very brave. But there is a limit to the number of times you can get the temporary 7 day code, and they require you to go back to your home address and log in. It’s so stupid, they’re basically turning into a cable company with this requirement. The entire point of Netflix is to be able to stream content from anywhere, not be chained to my home address. Based on these new rules, I would have been completely locked out of my account over a month ago.

Or paid for internet in their brother's house and was able to connect to that home WiFi network somewhere across the globe? This made me scream, it's true

In LatAm people would buy pirate movies and tv shows on the streets on DVD with no regrets and they will gladly do it again if they have to. They even sell hacked Netflix accounts everywhere.

You do realize plenty of people who are paying will stop their subscription cause of this. You are pretending like the people who don't own their account are the only ones leaving when this affects almost all the paying subscribers who travel or share their accounts with friends and family that don't live together. If you are paying for 4 screens and you can't even use all of them cause you don't live in the same house that's gonna be more than enough of a reason to cancel the subscription for a lot of people. It's so pathetic watching people bend over backwards to defend these pathetic multi billion companies being greedy Edited February 2, 2023 by Mobility Mary

Why do you find it desperate to be on Netflix’ side? It’s a business after all. We use it because we enjoy their content. If we’d all find a way to get the subscription without paying, they’d be making less money, meaning less content to produce. People acting like Netflix is their god-given right are kinda weird imo

You are literally taking a side of this greedy company when every single streaming plstform, including Netflix for years and years, understands that paying for multiple accounts should be more thsn enough for you to be able to... actually use them? Tying accounts to a location is pathetic.

scenekiller Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 The idiots in here screaming "why are people mad they have to pay!?!?" use a brain cell sometimes please I pay for Netflix, and I travel all the time. Even if they'll "accommodate" that, consumers shouldn't have to check in with Netflix every single time they want to travel and have access to their account, much less every "week" or whatever that user was saying about constantly extending things. People are threatening to quit because of all the stupid hoops they'll have to jump through just to watch something, not because "they have to pay now!!!"

Harrier Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Piracy is in it's comeback era in 2023 I fear. These companies got too big for their boots and don't realize the main reason for their success is convenience.
Shelter Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 I’m paying for 4 screens. It shouldn’t matter where I use them. I might cancel and just download again.
