Harmonizer Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 The only thing that will (hopefully) come out of this is a tier that will have a one screen 4K HDR access. However, if I pay for my account, I should be able to access it wherever I am. Netflix will lose so much money. Can't wait! Not everyone is going to pay $20 a month
Katamari Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Already let it lapse but this seems….poorly implemented
imabadkid Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I'm over Netflix tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few yrs they're no longer the largest streamer. Their content has been on decline for years anyway.

And removing the flexibility of the plan would alienate people and eventually leave the platform. But I think peolle would stay because they have strong content. Oh wait.

OreGuy Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 how about the premium account? is that considered password sharing? that's like the their family plan

BionicWooHoo Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 So if I move or change internet providers it’s also my job to tell Netflix?

Girl I'm not defending Netflix (or any big budget service for that matter) but when's the last time you met someone who turned up the heat at their mom's place and felt it get hotter in their condo across town? Or paid for internet in their brother's house and was able to connect to that home WiFi network somewhere across the globe? There are no "family" services. Literally everything is charged per "household".
madonnafan18 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Ridiculous. It's as if Netflix is trying to lose subscribers on purpose.

Mr.Link Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 This is what y’all did by watching their trash shows last year. They’re getting brave just because Stranger Things and Wednesday became hits.

So wait I’m actually genuinely confused.. so let’s say someone that has my password is using my account, but if I log in at least once a month to make sure it still is fine, how will it affect the person that has my password? The system will see that I already signed in

harwee Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 20% of Netflix users are already sharing pw as it is. If they can retain just half that, and then carry more than half of the top 10 shows, they won't care. They planned this for a long time.

You can request access when you travel which gives you 7 days access, which you can probably extend, and be provided pretty automatically (at least until they notice your logins are being used at the same time on 2 locations). Its kind of stupid though that Netflix can't detect you are the same person, for example, logged in on your laptop, or in a hotel which has its own account. It just means you want to use your own account. They're definitely very brave.

Well, here is the future.

Literally everything is charged per "household". Those are all physical and/or hard-wired services. You cannot possibly expect people not to want or expect to share digital services that have no tangible location/physical presence. Apple recognized this and created a family plan for Apple Music. Many people understood Netflix’s 4-screen payment tier to be the equivalent to that.
Delirious Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 The people who were paying for Netflix would always be paying. Even if you decide not to because of this new rule, you're a small percentage. Those who were using a shared password wouldn't be paying anyway. And now you have to resort to buying a subscription. So it's a win for Netflix either way
Delirious Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 7 hours ago, James_Dean said: Girl, this whole thing is only affecting those who are sharing passwords Exactly. Like for the people who are constantly travelling. You can easily file a ticket to Netflix support and they'll accommodate you. Or the other solution is to cancel your month for the country you live in and do a new one when you go to another country.
