MadMax12 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 In 2009-2011 everyone believed Gaga was the new Madonna. She had the visuals, impact, talent, ambition and determination. But she began taking risks too early, and when she had a decline she gave up. Madonna always stayed focused, at work and healthy which is why she was able to have lots of hit albums and singles. Gaga was able to recover but got in a habit of giving up and taking long breaks. Did she ruin her chances of having a career like Madonna? 1
~Start The Music Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 She just grew up and changed like every artist does it's common sense
HEAVYONIT Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 How does one even begin to unpack the mess that is the original post?
MadMax12 Posted January 31, 2023 Author Posted January 31, 2023 Just now, Josh said: Why would anyone wanna be the new Madonna? She is the best selling female artist of all time and ruled in the 80’s and 90’s. Taylor seems to be the only one with potential of having that kind of success

GraceRandolph Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 No, there’s no such thing as being the next ______. Everyone is different and navigates different periods in the music industry.
Rino Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 she ruined her chance to become the new Madonna when she was praised and got Oscar nominated for her role in ASIB
JohnWayneHolland Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Right? She ended up being just a successful musician who tours stadiums and an acclaimed actress who has won multiple Grammys, an Oscar, a BAFTA, among other prestigious awards, poor her
The Next Day Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 She didn't give up. She found a way to pave her own lane. It's a good thing people stopped comparing her to Madonna or any other artist cause that's when you know the people just want you to be an impersonator. Now she's an original who other people get compared to.
Pop Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Being “the new Madonna” might have been desirable in the 00s, but we are in 2020’s now and nowadays nobody wants to end up like her.
Guest Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I’m sorry but being “the next Madonna” is extremely unrealistic. Madonna was one of those once in a lifetime type musicians I don’t think anyone can or will fully recapture her impact. Same with MJ

A sold out tour, the last album released just happens to be the best selling remix album of the decade, etc? Yeah poor her

BGKC Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 She was inspired by Madonna in the beginning, but it was never going to be her trajectory. She found herself and created her own path. They’re incomparable now. We never needed “the next Madonna” to begin with.
selena_lavigne Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 every year she has a major project AS SHE SHOULD.
DiamondHoe Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 The idea of “the next …” is something only ever applied to female artists. Its very bizzare bruno and the weeknd are described as “honouring” or being “inspired by” MJ for instance. But no one dared call them a clone or “the next…”. But how often is Gaga called the next madonna, Ariana the next Mariah, doja the next Nicki, Billie the next Lorde etc. It reeks of sexism and the notion that women can only be successful if mimicking the one anomaly that slipped the net ot: no, Gaga was never the “next” anyone
L.B GAGA Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 She would have been had she released a Chromatica after TFM and done iconic well executed videos like Beyonce, Yeap she would have gone higher in sales. Then after a Chromatica released ASIB and then after that a well executed BTW then after a better sounding thematic Artpop. Then latest a stripped down better soundung Joanne Yeap she would have outdone Taylor Swift in sales and her trajectory in sales would have been higher. As of now, its too late but atleast she still has acclaim and awards. So, she did do well in a unique way.
vale9001 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) She didn't surpass Madonna at all but the fact she's free of the comparison is honestly only better for her. The trajectory of her career is taking a very different direction, in some way a see more than Cher in her than Madonna. Doesn't seem like she's gonna have a more lasting career as hitmaker than Madonna, but Madonna got his low years too (even if after a decade or so) so who knows, gaga can still put out an hit album. Bloody Mary is not a new song but 15 years after her debut she still has one of the most talked and listened pop song of the year, and it's new and fresh for almost everyone. Chika Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Only delulus ever thought she would rival Madonna in any way. She had a cute debut but her career rapidly nosedived into the pits of hell after BTW. The music quality was never at Madonna's level and only plummeted further with each subsequent release; the visuals had no real substance and were only propped up by empty theatrics that quickly wore thin; her performing ability never compared and the sales definitely did her no favours. GaGa wasn't a Madonna reborn so much as she was a hollow echo of the original.
HausofNick Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 She didn't become "the new madonna" simply because she matured as an artist and carved her own lane within pop music and in the music industry in general. Saying she "gave up" comes across as disingenuous when we've all seen how much she's matured over the years and cultivated her image into someone who is known beyond her music artistry and pop music antics. Also, just because Taylor has high sales, doesn't mean she's close to being like Madonna either, they're vastly different in terms of artistry and outlook on their respective careers.
