i wonder how twice's next release, or newjeans' full debut with multiple global hits under their belt, will do.

idk if newjeans has an US distributor because if not then most stans will buy from Korea, however they’d still do great numbers just from digital and streaming

Sam Smith sold over 1.1 million tickets on their last tour in support of Sam’s “flop album. Sam will be fine.

being a nasty human being

What did Sam even do to be considered a "nasty human being"?

But Unholy is smashing, I don’t understand.

How about Ava Max?

they should have dropped it in Nov while Unholy was still hot and able to give the album some SPS units

There's like dozens of examples of them being rude to people, fans, cancelling shows to go club instead etc. Like it's well documented.

Well...bad news for Sam but who wants to listen to a full album from them honestly?

Should be easy for you to gather that info pretty quickly for us if it’s so well documented

I actually like Sam and am a big fan of In the Lonely Hour, but there are actually a plethora of accounts of him being really nasty cocky and rude to those deemed "lesser" like backstage crew, fans, etc. :gaycat7:

Can't say im surprised at the Gloria numbers tbh, Unholy is an undeniable global smash, but something about it never screamed "album seller" to me and always verged into fad single territory :celestial5::michael:

Are people shocked with Sam?

He done nothing to build a cohesive image of the album or era. And honestly its fine, not everyone needs to be an album seller (see Lizzo etc). They'll start off weak and longevity will be determined by future singles

Ava not being listed most likely means that she is behind Lil Yachty.

We will see on Tuesday if she is top 20

Harry is dragged too, especially on ATRL. They call him queerbaiter all the time :skull:

Only Bad Bunny is praised here for wearing dresses

The difference btw Sam and Bad Bunny/ Harry is the latter still present masculine even in dresses. Unfortunately there is still a bias against flamboyance even within the queer community. Plus both are dressed by top designers. Sam embraced the “trash” label so his style tends to come off as undercooked. But as long as they’re happy, they don’t need to alter their aesthetic to please anyone.

I feel Unholy may have been a turn to so many people hence the low debut but I feel if it can somehow achieve more hits thus people will recognize the album.

Did you watch their interview with that Kiwi guy (forgot his name)? They have the next 4 albums planned and there’s a lot more from the Unholy canon to come. I haven’t listened to Gloria yet but Im optimistic. Sometimes i struggle to revisit their past albums cus I dont want to be dragged into a depressive mood.
