Depends who you ask.

Most black people around the world will say Beyoncé, and it won’t even be close.

A fair few white gays would say Gaga, of course. But I still think the majority of white people and all other races would conclude that Beyoncé’s longevity, critical acclaim, commercial success, performance calibre, and power all far surpass that of Lady Gaga.

Almost every young female pop star cite Beyoncé has an influence. Bey broke down barriers for black female artists and female artists in general. She is the highest grossing black artist of all time as it pertains to touring. She has won more Grammys than any male or female. She has revolutionised the way in which labels market and release music, and she single-handedly changed the album release day. She has been on the cover of every magazine you can imagine several times over, and is probably one of the most recognisable names in the world. Her name has become synonymous for success, talent, and beauty.

I’m not even going to mention her work with Destiny’s Child as that would be overkill.

Let's just say, no one is out here trying to dress and act like Beyonce lol. People look up to Beyonce but they don't try to be Beyonce.

Gaga by far. Back when she debuted everybody tried to mimick her appearance. Yes, even Beyonce. She has got more classics than Beyonce and even made an impact in the movie industry (something B never achieved despite several failed attempts).

2008-2013 Gaga was very influental in pop. I would say every major mainstream popstar was imitating her, sound or look (also katy perry in the looks for exampe). Major popstars weren't follow her only Taylor and Adele.

2013 until end of the last decade absolutely Beyoncè. She made concepts albums, woke pop r'n'b music a thing and it was the biggest model to follow. Rihanna made emd songs when Gaga was the most influential, Rihanna made Anti when Beyoncè was the most influential :cm:.

Now the most influential in the mainstream I would say is billie, she made personal sad pop the biggest thing in pop music (but lorde and lana open the doors in the decade before).

gaga was more influential at her peak. She had every one of the girls wearing crazy wigs and outfits. Some were even named the Lady Gaga of Hiphop :ahh:

But Beyoncé is more influential now.

lol what?

I'm not sure if you mean personality-wise or professionally but Beyoncé's actions in her personal management since dropping her father is pretty influencial. Since she's taken a step back publicly and promotion-wise, the entire industry has followed suit in some ways. It's a very different era now than 2011 and Beyoncé led the way.

As for other actions, here is just an incomplete list of artists who have surprise-released since 2013:

  • Justin Timberlake
  • Drake
  • Rihanna
  • Lady Gaga
  • Katy Perry
  • Miley Cyrus
  • Ariana Grande
  • Taylor Swift
  • Post Malone
  • Lorde
  • Demi Lovato
  • Eminem
  • One Direction
  • Wiz Khalifa
  • Jason Aldean
  • Kendrick Lamar
  • Frank Ocean
  • Billie Eilish
  • Travis Scott
  • Young Thug
  • Quavo
  • J Cole
  • Stormzy
  • DJ Khaled
  • Solange
  • Tamar Braxton
  • Adam Lambert
  • Tame Impala
  • Brockhampton
  • Jeezy
  • N.E.R.D.
  • AFI
  • Skrillex
  • Niall Horan

Beyoncé through Destiny's Child nearly single-handedly popularized rap-singing in pop, bridging the gap between pop music and rap in a way mainstream way that had not meaningfully been done before. You can literally plot the impact the staccato-style of #1 hit Bills, Bills, Bills had on pop, through Jennifer Lopez whose first single was standard R&B-flavoured-pop in If You Had My Love through to her second-release's lead single (released a year and a half after Bills Bills Bills) where she suddenly took on that way of singing in the chorus. This style has now become so mainstream it's was used by Britney, Rihanna, etc. etc. and is still used to this day, and has evolved through the impact of Drake.

Not only that, Beyoncé has had huge impact on the industry as we know it, shifting us from the hedonistic dance pop era of the digital era in 2008-2012 to prepare the industry for the streaming era, again nearly-singlehandedly pioneering a strategy that puts music and artist first not marketing and media prep. The surprise release as has been mentioned has been utilized by artists of all statures and genres and the visual album as well has had an imapct, even if not in getting others to follow suit, but by having artists now deliver music alongside videos immediately from debut, not spacing it out. Post-2013 we saw a Taylor Swift era launch with that kind of start, where Shake It Off came with a music video upon debut.

As one of the best performers of her generation, she's influenced just about any young popstar wishing to have such a credential as well.

Lemonade has direct successors in Kesha's personal diary-style video for Praying, as well as Kacey Musgraves' divorce-themed visual album, Star-Crossed.

Formation's video paved the way for #1 hit This is America.

Beyoncé has major influence in K-Pop.

And the fact that some of pop's BIGGEST names all cite Beyoncé as a major influence is no coincidence. Gaga has. Adele has. Rihanna has. Ariana has. Lizzo has. etc. etc. etc. etc....

I’m white and I can tell you that is Beyonce by really really far :skull:

In the 00s which was one of Bey’s peak her impact was more within the black community since every girl was trying it, even Rihanna and JLo(latina).

During IASF and Especially ST era every girl from every background was trying to be her, she’s by far the most influential woman this century aside from Britney Spears in the 00s.

Gaga had a brief period of influence in her peak, she was an instant icon but after that her impact and influence declined.

Even with the newer peaks of success she’s had in the last few years, she doesn’t hold the level of star power and influence Beyonce has.

Honestly that was the only real time she had influence in the industry.

But I’m sure we’ll hear about ASIB and Bloody Mary being masked as influential later in this thread :deadbanana4:

Beyonce for both. BEYONCE influenced gaga herself to purchase her dreams despite of being a singer(unfortunately). rihanna said her biggest influence in life is BEYONCE. Anita Baker, one of the biggest music legends on earth and way older than beyonce herself said beyonce is an influence on her as an artist.

A meat dress from 2010 is not the point of influence you should be proud of. Its embarrassing and try hard.
