Even though I went from #3 to #2 like that, progress is rarely perfectly linear. Dolphin Dive and LATU are not the first two songs I've written in my life. I've been songwriting for years. I'm gagged at me having an upward trajectory BUT I'm not gonna place any extra pressure on me to get #1 this week, because I'm struggling a little with the balancing act (I'm a Libra after all ). I feel like between the two sides, I'd rather give more poetic lyrics than generic ones for my Poptimism song but I'm still trying to strike a middle. Instead of giving a really fun pop song about licking ice cream nnnnn, I'm kinda going for a more empowerment anthem so this could be risky BUT empowerment anthems ARE radio candy so it could all work out. I could give y'all a sex bop but I kinda wanna serve something more inspirational this week and I don't want to write 2 romantic songs back to back either. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, for the Poptimism challenge I have to scrap this spectacular song I've been working on this week called Rainbow High It was a tough call but I feel like the song is too poetic to be submitted for the Poptimism challenge and I really like that aspect of the song so I want to leave it be since You're beautiful this way. Also, I'm feeling another vibe for this challenge that I'm excited to start I wanna have more fun with this Poptimism challenge a la Katy Perry rather than Adele and this Rainbow High song is too emotional to allow me to do that. (Not this sounding like an official statement or press conference gw0rl ). I feel like some lyrics and ideas contained in this song may be too much for pop radio. "Kaleidoscopes" is pushing iT ffff. I feel like writing this kind of song for this kind of challenge is gonna be a tug of war and I don't want that for this song or this challenge. For me I really like playing the competitive and game aspect of Golden Hit so I really do want to write FOR the challenge and just like in a video game, I wanna collect ALL the hit tokens haha. So I'm also thinking strategically and what would help me win. I really love this song (it's not finished btw) especially because of how inspirational it is. I feel like a lot of us may relate to it - it's more personal to me and contains my real feelings compared to my more fantastical songs DD and LATU (I love these acronyms btw ). I wanna share this song in case someone resonates and it's TEW good not to share. I feel like this is a great learning experience that sometimes you gotta scrap and not submit a fantastic, high quality song for very valid reasons. The lyrics you scrap can be the great ones too, not just the crap ones lol! I might use some lyrics from Rainbow High for the song I'll submit but we'll see. It was also so nice to write a song based on the Rainbow High franchise that has been a light in my life in 2023 so far.
