Miley swings her first #1 single

Quote

Since releasing her first single as Hannah Montana in 2006, Miley Cyrus has secured her first #1 single on the ARIA Charts this week with the debut of Flowers. Taylor Swift continues to reign on the Albums Chart for an 11th non-consecutive week after Midnights became her longest-running #1 album in Australia last week.

Miley’s previous best was Wrecking Ball, which reached #2 in 2013. She has had two #1 albums in Australia with Bangerz in 2013 and Breakout in 2008. In 2021 she was nominated in the ARIA Awards for Best International Artist with Plastic Hearts and Single of the Year for WITHOUT YOU featuring The Kid LAROI.

RAYE featuring 070 Shake climbs one more spot with Escapism. to a new high of #3, while former Big Bang member TAEYANG and BTS member Jimin break into the top 50 with the debut of Vibe.

Back on the Albums Chart, after achieving her first Australian #1 single last week with Kill Bill, SZA’s SOS enjoys a third week at #2 on the Albums Chart. The Arctic Monkeys’ recent tour and pop up propels The Car to #3, and Elton John’s final tour sees Diamonds sitting firmly at #5 after more than four years on the chart.

Well at least she was blocked by a certified smash. Roar was everywhere that year. It would have been worse if a local Aussie act blocked her.
