The only vaccine against H.I.V. still being tested in late-stage clinical trials has proved ineffective, its manufacturer announced on Wednesday, another disappointment in a field long beset by failure.

So sad. But let's keep hoping.

Terrible news :snowman:

keep trying :clap3:

This disease is so scary and still comes with so much stigma.

Hopefully progress can be made so it becomes a thing of the past.

If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again

Hopefully there is still a possibility before the end of the decade.

Late trials - so is this different from those coming out of the COVID vaccine technique?

NYT is behind a paywall. Is this the Moderna or Pfizer (can’t remember which) trial?

so sad… :dancehall3:

but i’m hopeful still

Of course it has. Big Pharma can't allow patients who are on life medication to suddenly be replaced by patients who won't need any medication.

Yawn.

If it was something that could affect the majority of people like covid, both cure and vaccine would have been available years ago, but keep trying or at least make antiretroviral drugs for hiv+, and prep more effective..

Lmao they’d make more money if vaccines for everyone were made.

oh no :frown: it looked promising but hopefully with more research and more trying they can find a vaccine in the future.

Does this mean someone caught the disease after trying the trial vaccine?

Dang.

I think this is one of them actually.

Hope they can find a cure or something by like 2050...seems impossible at this point.

They would not :rip:

imagine if people cared as much about hiv/aids as they do about covid. a successful vaccine would have been created long ago.

and before y’all say that covid is more serious than hiv/aids; more than 40 million people have died of hiv/aids, most of them were just gay so nobody cared.

You can get HIV meds for free (or almost for free).

Well in the meantime pep should be free and prep should be way cheaper

Disappointing, but the research will continue so we shouldn’t give up hope.

Also people are spreading complete nonsense in here, comparing the covid vaccine to the HIV vaccine is ridiculous, they are two entirely different viruses.
