AI generated songs are a thing now and it sounds really good

Ok but how do they do it?, I suppose they use extracs from the voice of the artist from an ACapella or something and make them sing any melody/song they want.

I think this could fool some casuals, but like.. as an Ariana fan, I can easily hear all 3 I've seen posted in the last few days are not actually her.

 

It sounds like what it is - existing audio tweaked to match the same tone as what is fed to the AI. But making Maren or Normani tonally *sound* like Ariana isn't generating a unique vocal where someone *sings* like Ariana. The WAP one for Frank Sinatra seems to be something different - extracting existing vocals to form a song but it is more obviously fake from how rough the final is in structuring sentences together from word fragments.

 

Motivation sounds most like Ariana BECAUSE it is an Ariana song given to Normani. 

 

But sometimes it doesn't work because some voices just aren't similar enough.

Nonsense sounds like an Ariana song yet the AI program used can't make Sabrina sound like Ariana:

This doesn't sound like Ariana at all. It sounds like Sabrina's voice just deeper. 

 

Someone could do this, by hand, for hours in a program like Audacity. An AI just makes it faster. In the past, music traders would go as far as getting female singers who sound like Britney to write and record fake demos.  Someone even went and recorded a fake version of Jada by Ariana trying to sound like her:

 

 

The issue would really come in combining these two things - getting someone to cover a song in the style of another artist and then using AI to shift the tone of their voice to match.

This fundamentally misunderstands what is being done to the vocal to create these audios. 

 

Myah replicating Britney's voice tonally through natural ability already gives you the product you want. Ironically something like this makes what Myah and Anthony Preston (allegedly!) did with Britney Jean worse because it could help soothe out spots where Myah had an off day.

 

The "crunchiness" where it sounds flat in many shows though that there are even limitations in using something like algorithms to transform sounds vs people who can mimic tones.

 

Like what would be the purpose of having an AI learn Britney's tone to re-do this:

...it's already been trained in Britney's voice by the human version of Diff-SVC.

We are about to enter a new phase of humanity  when human arts go extinct, songs like Bad Romance, Teenage Dream, We Found Love, Rolling in the Deep, Shake it Off, Halo, 7 Rings, bad guy, etc. will become human heritage and classics forever.

Wait a sec, never realized Motivation sounds like an actual Ariana Grande sound And a bigger hit than the original for sure  

 

I can imagine a world where songs take a bigger part of the picture, and it'll be up to people to choose who'll sing them.
