Scrihmed at your username though. Are you Neil Druckmann?

He wishes. :bird:

The Last of Us is just my favourite game series of all time and soon to be my favourite television series.

I actually do. Discussing with other people is part of the experience for me, something that isn't really encouraged by shows that drop all episodes at once.

Also binging can put people in a weird position when you don't have enough time to watch the whole thing asap because the risk of spoilers is higher, which doesn't happen as much with weekly shows since it's easier to find an hour to watch a show, even the day it drops.

I usually just wait until the show has finished dropping all its episodes to start streaming at my own pace

I honestly don't mind. What I like about that is that the social media conversation around the show is more in-synch so it's always funny to go into Twitter and se everyone talking about the same thing.

There's a reason weekly drops have been the standard for decades and are still going strong. It's simply the better format.

I only allowed HBO (House of The Dragon, The White Lotus and The Last of Us) to do weekly release because the show is so great it’s worth the wait and I don’t wanna it’s over quickly.

I still love binging Netflix tho.

It’s a bit of an outdated formula, and I do feel like as the times have changed I’ve become more adjusted to the simultaneous release/binge method, but there are positives to both so it depends. For some types of shows the weekly release is beneficial because it increases the hype through theorising and the experience of actually having to wait to find out what happens only increases the stakes (this can also have a negative effect too though, if the show ultimately doesn’t live up to the hype, but when it pays off it’s amazing). For shows that drop all at once it’s more convenient since you have it all available to you at once and don’t have to avoid weekly spoilers, however I find that a few days after the show releases, if it’s a big show then social media is usually full of spoilers anyway because everybody binged it and in a few more days everybody will have moved on, but this release method does fit in more with our current streaming era because these days there is such a huge amount of content out there to watch that a slow drip of weekly episodes means sacrificing attention that can go toward other shows that you are missing (but does increase the longevity of the show).

tldr there’s good and bad to both, just do whatever suits you more
