BradySpears Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Holding out hope for a Niki and Donna appearance. It would be a great moment if they performed Express Yourself.

Oktober Knight Posted January 30 Posted January 30 OMG the girls MUST join her on stage. This would be such a missed opportunity if they don't. Vogue, Express Yourself, or Rain please 1

Nah, Niki seemed offended she wasn't asked to return for the Re-Invention Tour and made some jokes about her at the time but it was nothing serious. Donna was always on good terms with M but never worked with her past the Confessions Tour.

By then madonna got much bigger. Niki complained and was not happy to talk through her people. She just left and went her way Edited January 30 by madollaqueen

Both Nikki and Donna served a lil desperation trying to join her on stage, I doubt Madonna likes that lbr

The7thStranger Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) There are some great podcast episodes with Niki and Donna. Christopher has claimed that Madonna had Niki's microphone turned off when she feels she's overpowering her. Niki herself has said that on one of the tours, Madonna came to her and addressed how influential she was among the dancers, i.e., cut it out because they don't listen to me. This may have been BAT, but I don't remember. Long story short, Niki and Madonna had butted heads before, but I can't imagine this really be the root of the issue. After Niki's accident (Madonna covered her medical bills) and the Drowned World Tour, I think she was just done. Since then, however, Niki has said some pretty unsavory things about Madonna's work and her relationships, but there's no telling if these also aren't things she wouldn't have said to Madonna's face ("I think Warren gave Madonna some class"). Lord knows Mama ain't shy. Donna continued to work with Madonna up until Live 8 (?), after which she felt the job had simply run its course. She was really into making her own music at the time, and I think she just didn't want to do it anymore. By that point, Donna and the other singers had really been pushed to the back anyway, so I can't imagine Confessions, for example, was quite as fun to be a part of in comparison to BAT or TGS. Siedah Garrett also stated she had tension with Donna on the Reinvention Tour, but I'm not really sure how serious all of that was. I think the two of them are integral to Madonna's sound during her peak years, and they deserve all the credit they get. Madonna should definitely have them up on stage for a reunion if only because this whole tour is a love letter to the fans. Swallow your pride and get them back on stage for Rain at least. I wouldn't say this is one of Madonna's stronger tours vocally, I'm guessing because of the health issues (and those damn grills), so it would great to have all three of them tackling a song together. Oktober Knight Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I remember reading in her brother's book that Madonna wanted Niki fired on a few occasions, mainly because her vocals would overpower Madonna's as mentioned above. Obviously Madonna kept her around - who else was gonna pull off that heavy choreography and do the solo during Like A Prayer?

Alongoria13 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Kelly Ripa makes sense from a commercial standpoint, die hard fans who care about Nikki and Donna have tickets already, she has to move the rest.

I'd rather see Niki and Donna sing with her rather than be the Vogue guest judge. It made sense for José to be the guest judge, though. That was amazing.

GlamSlam Posted January 30 Posted January 30 What a pity she didn't even mention Niki and Donna. These three could make something amazing again if they swept all the BS away and reconciled.
