Madonna - The Celebration Tour | More Than 1.5 Million People @ Mega-Concert in Rio

I always rolled my eyes at people wanting Bad Girl on a tour, assuming it'd be a huge momentum killer and the GP standing there awkwardly would suck the buzz out of any section (it's London so all those dusty bald hags are just standing there no matter what song she plays) but it works so well here, maybe my favourite part of the show. :rip:

It's was like that on opening night, Celebration is really really short and BIM is the full thing. This time she didn't sing on Celebration or Music though, they just played while she was saying goodnight.

ugh I am so blown away :jonny4: I went in almost blind and the show was incredible

loved loved LOVED the setlist and all the interpolations. Up Down Suite? Don’t Tell Me? Thief of Hearts? Bad Girl? Nothing Really Matters? like  :jonny5: **** I was shaking and crying the entire time

ending on ***** I’m Madonna is such a horrendous and troll move though :skull: but lowkey camp and iconic??? not sure, need to think about it lol

the legend montage was ******* EVERYTHING, the way Madonna must have looked at the final edit and said “yeah, I ******* DID THAT”.

this was a “retrospective” tour in her own terms and I love that so much. but I do see how the locals will be confused and expect something completely different. I felt like this tour caters more to fans/stans than the GP, and that’s incredible.

loved the dark vibe of the show, I saw a couple of people here picking up on it.

however, the costumes didn’t really do it for me? all of her outfits except the opening were kind of generic and forgettable which is a shame. I also didn’t like the boxing segment (don’t know the name) even if the songs were great. and it seemed like the storyline angle was abandoned after Live To Tell?

sorry for the essay but there’s too much to process :jonnycat:

when did it start and was it a full show with the curfew not interfering? Great writeup, btw.  I can't wait till Houston.

also, how would you rate it compared to her previous tours? (if you went)

It looks like the judge during Vogue will be this tour’s Unapologetic *****; the first three shows in London saw Lourdes, FKA Twigs, and Diplo as the guest judge. I’m betting when the show gets to the US we’ll probably see some familiar people in the judge’s seat: Anderson Cooper, Amy Schumer, Katy Perry perhaps?

But I have to wonder, given that the performance samples a Beyonce remix.. what are the chances she might be a guest judge before the tour ends?

I don't think Madonna has looked this happy on tour since Who's That Girl. The joy and sense of peace is all over her face, I really think her brush with death fundamentally shifted her perspective (things got quite dark for a bit there). And the GP has already noticed it. :heart2:

I agree, she looks thrilled to finally be giving us the show we've always wanted. I'm sure she finally realizes how important her old classics are.

She looks SO good here woah!

I maintain that "Celebration" especially the Benny Benassi remix is highly underrated and low key should've been on MDNA and its lead single. Like imagine if instead of GAYLUV she had performed Celebration Benny version at the Superbowl.

Not AXS UK closing the booking page super early for tonight's show in London.

For all previous shows tickets could be bought up until the point of the doors of the O2 opening.

I wanted to buy last minute tickets for tonight. But guess I'll have to skip. :biblio:

This should be the poster/cover when she releases the tour film in like five years' time :suburban:
