I don't doubt his relationship with Bella Hadid had unhealthy elements, from the age difference to the trauma bonding and deeply unresolved issues both had, and it's very likely both cheated on each other, but neither party ever spoke in true detail about it, so the person you responded to is likely parroting gross fanfiction from gossip communities like deuxmoi, who are known for having a (borderline racist) hate boner against Abel. And by all accounts, his relationship with Selena had a more positive nature, and it seems he was the closest she ever had to a healthy relationship during her 20s, so your initial point still stands regardless of his past with Bella.
