Kesha - 'Gag Order'

I finally listened to one of the hour long interviews she did last night (the Zach Sang one specifically) and ugh it’s just so amazing to hear her talk, her thoughts and her intelligence are so unique. She truly has grown so much, but she’s still so funny and quirky and free spirited at heart. I’ll never not love her and who she is :weeps:

Guys she’s singing on fine line :jonny6:

I feel like this was how the song was originally meant to sound

I’m sure the visuals will snatch me but the EP in itself is nothing special. The vocal mixing is giving High Road and Rick Rubin is truly missed on it, I’m afraid.

Okay just finished the EP and I’m a tiny bit underwhelmed, but to start with the good:

- the vocals!!!!!!! I honestly can’t believe this is the same woman from even the rainbow era performances. I had chills

- the composition of the songs are really nice

- All I need is You is almost better than the original

- The Happy outro :jonnycat:

Now what I didn’t like:

- it’s basically just her with an acoustic guitar for the most part. Like it’s definitely stripped but the album is already quite stripped so it doesn’t feel like it has as big of an impact

-not sure what the ‘from space’ is referring to, there is no spacey/alien type elements at all

- its very clear this is like a live recording, like there’s no mastering on the vocals at all, but I feel it makes her vocals almost muffled at times and swallowed by the instrumental. It just would’ve been much more so ***** if they had brought the vocals up and mastered them, but I appreciate she’s going for rawness. Just not sure how it fits in with the from space theme at all.

She’s performing from ‘space’. The EP is just an excuse for extra streams but she’s posting the performance video tomorrow.

I also was expecting a Warrior Deconstructed tea but it’s giving lockdown DIY performance.

I was surprised to see that Gag Order has the second-highest user score of all time on Metacritic!

Granted, there are only 117 ratings, but there are three albums with less ratings in the Top 10, so this is really impressive.

At least in terms of user scores, it's also the most acclaimed big name female pop album this year besides Lana's album on rateyourmusic and AOTY.

love so much the acoustic version of OLCSUN :clap3:

The Fine Line acoustic version :jonny5: as if it wasn't my SOTY already

I didn't really care about OLCSUN. AINIY and Happy are nice cause we can hear her raw vocals but they're basically the same as the studio versions.

Fine Line acoustic on the other hand....... whewwwww

I agree. They are cute, but that's it. Though Happy is a standout and quite different in parts.

Happy > Fine Line > AINIY > OLCSUN

I'm so in love with Fine Line Acoustic. Wish Hate Me Harder was included as well (demo version is immaculate) instead of Happy, it is too similar to the studio version.

Omg Fine Line acoustic :jonny5:  All I Need is You & Happy are kind of unnecessary bc they're both essentially acoustic already lol. I wish we could've got Something to Believe In & Too Far Gone instead. Or even The Drama, but idk how that would translate acoustically but I'm sure she could make it work

From the snippets she posted on insta I just know I'm about to be snatched :wanda:I love when an artist breathes new life into a song by changing certain elements up and it sounds like that's exactly what she did with Fine Line

There's like 40 signed vinyls left on her store btw

after reading the reactions on here i'll admit i'm a little disappointed but i'm still hyped for Fine Line!! Really want to hear what she changed in it

Honestly, at this point, I wouldn’t be shocked if the vinyl ends up outselling the CD…the way the vinyl/EP release already feels more eventful than the actual release week too :rip:.

im more of a Y2K gal so imma keep the CDs. do ppl even buy the record player? :rip:
