How is It unlucky for her to score her biggest hit to date? :psyduck: Even without touching #1 this song is huge for her standards

Unlucky in the sense that the song could've gone #1 in December but didn't because of the Christmas freeze, and it should've been a #1 this week but Miley's unprecedented smashing derailed that.

If it wasn't because of the Christmas freeze, some other big artist probably would've released and she would've still been blocked. And SZA's success is actually more "unprecedented" than Miley's, so SZA is actually lucky to have peaked at 2 and not lower tbh.

She had enough streams to go #1 on any other week, it's just that the Xmas songs had too much radio support to overcome.

Looks like SZA and Dua will continue to be BLOCKED from #1 on the Hot 100. I wanted Tay to get an 8th week, Miley to debut at #1 for one week and then SZA to snatch for many weeks but looks like Flowers is going to be a mega smash hit and block indefinitely until someone huge releases a hit. Unlucky tbh

Flowers is looking to have a long reign at #1. As It Was 2.0

It was also her or her managment to chose to release on that date. no one forbbiden her to release on january 1st

Wow that sucks for SZA... Kill Bill getting blocked by Christmas hits, then Taylor, and now Miley!? Deserves No. 1 so so much! Flowers seems pretty strong & stable so not sure if she will be able to snatch a week after Flowers' debut.

Don't forget the radio thing. If it was released earlier, Kill Bill would've been #1 this week for sure.

Or if it was released any time before Unholy, it would have been an easy #1. (Rich Flex, too.) Kill Bill's peak would have been #1 any week between July 9 and October 29:

Bad romance was huge and got blocked by a monster, Kill Bill will probably fade fast

I think Kill Bill’s run on the Hot 100 will, more or less, mirror Rich Flex. I see both songs finishing with 25-30 weeks on the chart.

Bad Romance was actually the closest to #1 when it was #3 points wise, thats how competitive that top 3 was :dies:

But Billboard (and Swifties) don't celebrate this. They celebrate their new year some time in early November, lol.
