This generations Kate Bush is Halsey. I heard a tiny bit of Closer on the radio and thought it was Running Up That Hill.

I should give Caroline a chance if she gets this type of comparison tho.

I promise you no one has ever said that

To be fair to Caroline:

Quote

The American avant-pop star started out as an indie darling who went on to write songs for Beyoncé. Now, she’s back with an album that could make her Gen Z’s Kate Bush

I've never heard anyone make this comparison.

But she def sounds just like Imogen Heap on half of her songs! :giraffe:

I was trolling based on Halsey hearing a Kate Bush song that she thought was hers?  no wonder you like Britney the lack of self awareness :dancehall:

She’s right and I don’t see how she’s similar to Kate Bush. If anything she’s the Enya/Imogen Heap of this generation.

Some people here must have not heard/cared or listened to Kate's music before last year. The big alt female artists have ALL received Kate Bush comparisons - Bjork, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, Joanna Newsom, Bat for Lashes, Florence and I guess yes Caroline as well. It's a thing that the Music press have been doing since the 90s. Kate had an influence outside of Netflix.

(Also I'm not saying I support calling any woman who decides to make music that's not completely derivative a Kate Bush wannabe or whatever. I think it's lazy.)

I understand where she's coming from and it's kind of crazy that no (white) woman that's done something that would be considered alternative (Bjork, Tori, Fiona, Imogen, P.J. etc) has escaped the Kate Bush comparisons which makes sense the way she swung open that door but whew :jonny2:
