GraceRandolph Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Crossroads currently has a 3.6 on IMDb, a 27 on Metacritic, and a measly 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. This makes it the worst performing project in Shonda Rhimes’ estimable career. A similar Shonda-penned “chick flick” Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement performed substantially better. What went wrong with Crossroads?
Pikachoo Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) because Britney was f/a/r/t/i/n/g eggs the whole time while on set and the smell made Shonda FAINT Edited January 13, 2023 by Pikachoo
Shelter Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I need to watch it again and see if it holds up now.
Abracadabra Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 because it was released in 2002 when it was cool to trash every movie that starred a pop star post-Glitter

samsclubPRESENTSavam Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 why? ...did you watch it? I wouldn't say it's the worst movie ever but it wasn't great. plus 2002 was still very much about hating anything targeted at girls, so no mercy.

Mandy Moore started her movie career in 2002. Queen Latifa was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for 2002's Chicago. Beyonce was in an Austin Powers hit sequel in 2002 her second movie after her television movie Carmen. Eminem was in 8 Mile in 2002. Maybe make a good movie if your a pop star and you'll be fine.

J Lo was established as an actress before she ever had a music career, and Queen Latifah and Eminem are not "pop stars". Austin Powers: Goldmember was a commercial success (as was Crossroads) but received very lukewarm reviews. All of Mandy's movies at that time were dragged by critics. You tried it though.

Leptine Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 It was objectively a bad-trash movie purposely made in order to capitalize on Britney's figue and music success of the time, in the same vein of that Spice Girls movie that came out few years before with the same purpose.
Proseductice Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 It's not even that bad. If you expected anything but a cheesy cheap chick-flick movie idk what to tell you.
modeblock Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 critics hate women today, but they DESPISED them to another level in the early 2000s
