Antisocialites Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) $20 is such a career highlight from Baker, joining Sour Breath and Turn Out the Lights (song) in her trinity Edited March 31, 2023 by Antisocialites
dreamofyou Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 as expected, an excellence album from start to finish
mellenthin Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Absolutely beautiful. Will need to give it more listens, but definitely shaping up to be a favourite of this year.
shookspeare Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 This is kinda mean but I wish they would kick Lucy out and replace ha with someone more interesting, she's so boring
Antisocialites Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Lucy is the best songwriter of the group (even if I like Phoebe's style more) wtf
djcalpal Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 This album is STUNNING. It's giving major The Staves tea, especially with the acapella intro. Chef's kiss.
Indie Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Gorgeous album, I'm obsessed with Letter To an Old Poet interpolating Me & My Dog. True Blue and Not Strong Enough are still the best tracks but I expected that, they're nearly impossible to top
Rotunda Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 It’s good. True Blue and Not Strong Enough easily wash everything else.
Billionaire Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Satanist, Anti-Curse and Letter to an Old Poet have to be my trinity out of the new songs. Out of the singles, $20 is my favorite. They've done it again
Ice Cream Skies Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 This is ******* garbage. I bet you $$$ their reviews are all bought by the Phoebe machine. Most generic indie rock slop ever. Only decent songs are True Blue and Not Strong Enough. Lucy > Julien >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> world's biggest *****

That song is literally the sequel to the best song from their debut EP oh my god!
josesuxx Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 We're In Love it's the best new track and of course it's a Lucy song!
Gui Blackout Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Letter To an Old Poet is doing an number on me
DancingShoes Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 This is really good and I think they work so well together.
K$Ellie Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) the upbeat songs are generic but cute, the ballads are beyond boring so over phoebe's sedated mopey vocals Edited April 2, 2023 by K$Ellie
Eric. Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 (edited) Lucy is kinda the heart and soul of this album. "True Blue" is serving SOTY material. Aside from the singles, I'm really loving "Leonard Cohen" and "We're In Love" Edited April 3, 2023 by Eric.
ATRL Moderator Verge of Obscene Posted April 3, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted April 3, 2023 not sure why but i hate true blue
Arknex Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 In love with this album, but the ep is always going to be my favorite. "Emily I'm Sorry" and "True Blue" are still the best after listening to it in full

A lot of creeps come and start to attack successful people that don't get the same praise as their other indie faves lol This is such a good album, as a Phoebe fan I don't think it reaches the same highs as Punisher but I'm biased as I'm not a big fan of Lucy nor Julien even though I really enjoy some of their solo songs (specially Julien's Little Oblivions and her song Even). But I must agree that the one that shines the most is Lucy, what a way to go ♥

With that said, while Punisher was really my foray into the kind of music they make, I’ve since become a lot more into Julien and Lucy - but I also think their lyricism hits me in a more visceral way.
