This thread is either gonna be messy, get closed or both nnnnnn

Thanks for putting this list together. I didn't know about Ch-Ching being pitched for Beyonce. I think that song would be a good flex experimentally for Beyonce.

Or neither.

Every pop girl sans Taylor has a song or two that was: meant for someone else, taken from someone else, or made in imitation of another song. No reason for this to be messy.

IIRC, No Angel + Ch-Ching were made in the same London/NYC sessions and Beyoncé picked her favorite.

Also i believe Impossible by Shontelle was intended for Beyoncé or Rihanna at some point but Shontelle fought to keep the song

Lemonade (2015-2016)

---> Belly & French Montana (6 Inch)

The song was actually Belly and The Weeknd, not French Montana

Quote

"Originally a Belly song with participation from French Montana," Diehl said. "We got a response that Beyoncé had liked and then we decided: we should continue working together, I think they get somewhere. It turns out you do not know when that day will come." When a singer released her surprise visual album in December 2013, Diehl was quick to check out a list of songs, but "6 Inch" was not there. "Everything went well," Diehl concludes. After three years, in 2016, the song finally came out on Beyoncé's sixth album, Lemonade, with a guest appearance from the Weeknd.

Yeah from what I can remember Caroline included a rough demo of No Angel at the last minute when sending demos to B. She didn’t think Beyoncé would care for the song as it was the most left-field out of the tracks they sent.

Initially Beyoncé changed the vocal style/pitch (which Caroline didn’t think worked) and then reverted back to a vocal style more similar to Caroline’s demo when re-working the track.

Love this thread as I genuinely never knew about Caroline??? I love her now but have never heard about this, whoa

The idea of Bey choosing No Angel from a demo that was the most different for her is sooo interesting. I bet the ST creation process was so intriguing.

I don't think "Addiction" was ever pitched for Beyonce?

She played it a demo on Instagram Live in 2018, most of the songs played eventually made it onto Hot Pink.

He never said that though. He said that Stargate sent him the song and it had a guitar and it sounded "country" to him. So he redid it in a "country-R&B" style and was inspired by Faith Hill and Shania Twain when he was doing the song.

Great list, very informative :clap3:

Baby I - (Babyface, Antonio Dixon, Patrick "J Que" Smith) ---> Ariana Grande

This one shocked me the most, I couldn‘t imagine Beyoncé singing this teeny bopper track, not even in her debut era (and I love the song) :deadbanana4: or All About That Bass :deadbanana2:
