Europe Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Quote According to data from the streaming guide JustWatch, Prime Video has bumped Netflix out of the top spot in the US. The site’s data shows that “Prime Video is now the SVOD market leader in the US and now holds a 1% lead over Netflix.” This revelation comes from the site’s Q4 2022 Streaming Charts, which measured the interest in all of the SVOD (subscription video on demand) services on JustWatch from October 1st through December 31st, 2022. Prime Video came out on top with a 21% market share, but Netflix is close behind at 20%. Meanwhile, Disney Plus came in third with 15%, HBO Max was fourth with 14%, and Hulu was the only other service in double digits with 11%. It’s interesting to see how the biggest streaming services trended up and down over the course of 2022. Prime Video spent much of the back half of the year climbing, while Netflix seemingly bottomed out last fall. https://bgr.com/entertainment/prime-video-overtakes-netflix-as-the-top-streaming-service-in-the-us/
Richmond Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Huh?? There’s literally nothing to watch on Prime
ratedreid Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 This makes sense as it's bundled with a service that most people have/use (Amazon Prime). I doubt their view count beats Netflix though.
vale9001 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) This news makes no sense. Data are not public and just watch doesn't have them. They can talk only about the ìinterest registered in their app, doesn't mean this are the general data. Wednesday alone I guess made in dec more hours watched than all the prime video originals combined Edited January 9, 2023 by vale9001

If this is weighed solely by prime subscriptions then yeah, I'm surprised they weren't already the leader? everyone and their mom has amazon prime
MAKSIM Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 9 minutes ago, Richmond said: Huh?? There’s literally nothing to watch on Prime It’s a marketing number. Like how Amazon gives out twitch primes for users that link their prime to twitch.
Sombre Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Now let's add an "active=1" flag to that query and see the Prime numbers drop lmao.
Diet Pepsi Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 How many people actually watch Prime Video though?

popmusicisdead Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 this is like how Google+ was the 2nd largest social network at one point because every Gmail account automatically gets you an account there
Taylena Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Disney is the winner here tho because they also own Hulu thus a 26% joint market share for Disney Plus/Hulu.
Iceland Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 GaGa's prime https://www.amazon.com/House-Gucci-Lady-Gaga/dp/B09NSTXN5G

Domination Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Total misrepresentation of the data. Let’s see the viewership.
Europe Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 10 minutes ago, Domination said: Total misrepresentation of the data. Let’s see the viewership. We can extrapolate from this: Quote According to Amazon, The Lord of the Rings prequel series saw an impressive 25 million viewers in the first 24 hours after its premiere. These numbers made it Prime Video's most-watched series premiere to date. However, the show also saw a spike in demand following its Oct. 14 series finale. According to Parrot Analytics, there was an impressive 55.7 times increase in viewership, which was an all-time high viewership number for Season 1 of the show. https://www.cbr.com/rings-of-power-audience-shrink-week-nielsen-lotr-amazon/
Archetype Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Prime Video is part of Amazon Prime, so this number is absolutely useless. Nobody watched Prime Video because there’s nothing on it. On top of that, most of their content offerings are actually rentals and not even I voided in the subscription cost.
Otter Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Girl there is nothing on it. I check it once a month simply because it comes with Amazon Prime
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted January 9, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted January 9, 2023 I mean all you have to do is look at the Nielsen streaming numbers to know that Prime Video has a long way to go in terms of matching Netflix's viewership numbers but I guess good on 'em for securing so many subscribers. With that though: Maisel, The Boys, and Reacher supremacy
