If his commercial peak had happened in the streaming era, he would've definitely had a string of US #1's just like he did in Europe. US radio was very cautious toward pure EDM songs, the only ones that got major airplay sounded like traditional pop songs like "Without You" and "Titanium."

yes, if streaming  was huge when he had Titanium with Sia, Without You with Usher and Turn Me On with Nicki, those would probably hit #1.

Guetta discography is remarkable, let's not forget about bops like Getting  Over You with Fergie, Love Is Gone, Baby When the Light and one of the best edm songs ever - When Love Takes Over with Kelly.

I’m just so proud of her. She doesn’t deserve it of course but just wow

Been on here ten years and from 4lop scared to release to needs surprise gimmicks no #1 since Bush administration to can’t go #1 without quick lil remixes to solo #1 but it fell off after 19 weeks to this :lmao:  Just beautiful. And one of her most radio friendly and instant classics, it deserved this.

Lemonade was necessary but obvious Formation sabotage aside she wasn’t going to be getting those big hits with that sound. It got her the acclaim and now we’ve got both happening at once :clap3:

Hold Up was begging to be a global smash but no streaming, no hits... lemonades had several potential top 10s but Tidal wouldn't allow any of that.

Yeah tbh I heard it for Hold Up and Sorry in English speaking markets. Hold Up was huge in the UK like inescapable on radio but it couldn’t even crack top ten. She was so :rip:

Yep, it was No.2 on itunes for a week but could only peak at No.11 without streaming points :priceless:

Her team were trying to push Sorry at the time, so there wasn't even any youtube support for the song (for like 4months). Even if they didn't want to put up the video there could of just done an audio upload.

technically, the only era of hers that was hard for her to land a top 10 hit was the 4 era, and I think that was quite radio friendly. Ironically, she did way more promo for that era in spite of everything so I guess it just depends on how much top40 radio feels like playing her or whatever Sony/Columbia services. In any event, I like that her continued critical acclaim and chart success is now coalescing in her 40s. A female icon from this generation had to be the first to break the glass on commercial ageism and Beyoncé was the perfect candidate for the job. Wasps are really lucky she ain't outchea showing her face everywhere making it harder on the gorls because we see it could be 10x worse for them lol.

I'll wait for the GRAMMYS. If nothing happens, let's just pretend the era never happened.

Per Pulse You Proof is #3210 & WOY is 3653. I'm not sure how YP ranks higher but am guessing its because YP has more Top 10 time than WOY which hovered just outside the Top 10 for months after its #9 debut--its only Top 10 week. BB estimated points per position drop dramatically after songs fall below 10.

Wow.....the streaming songs chart looks weird this week. You have songs rising 40 positions & reentering just outside the Top 10 but without bullets. Antihero does have a bullet & won streaming gainer this week.

Some of those re-entries show that recurrent rules are being applied arbitrary and quite frankly contradictory. Wasted on You, for example, went recurrent on Pop, and yet, somehow re-entered the chart in its 104th tracking week. (Keep in mind that Billboard didn't allow Blinding Lights to re-enter the charts on its 101st tracking week when it got a boost Halloween week 2021.) To me, recurrency should be all or none. I know it's the week after Christmas, but re-entries should be limited to songs that are at least stable on radio, not declining. I'm okay with songs like ILY and ADT returning, but Wasted on You should have stayed recurrent. There was a reason Wasted on You went recurrent on Pop (hint: it was declining very rapidly). Absolutely no reason to add back a 2-year-old song that is declining on radio and with really no boost.

Blinding Lights had already reentered from super recurrency 1× & this is WOYs 1st SRC reentry. So the scenarios differ. WOY got a YE boost that might only last 1 week. I had thought Heat Waves would be back this week but its not. I don't know if its age or falling just short of #25 is why its #1 recurrent instead of being back on the Hot 100.

If it’s due to age, it doesn’t make sense, considering Heat Waves debuted only one week earlier on the Hot 100 than Wasted on You. HW got an actual YE boost, while WoY declined on all 3 metrics. But that would suggest that HW was so much further behind WoY to begin with (which I highly doubt because HW seemed to stabilize better than WoY during the Christmas season). Unless Billboard secretly has a rule that allows songs to chart in Week 104, but not Week 105 (if this is the case, then WoY wouldn’t be able to chart next week).

But most of the Christmas songs are MUCH older than 104 weeks. And Carey passed 52 H100 weeks in 2022 making it a SRC reentry in 2023. That would make 2024 a 2nd SRC reentry.

And RATCT hits 52 weeks H100 in 2023 too. This would mean a SRC reentry for 2024 & 2025 2nd SRC reentry. Would BB use this as a tool to retiire older Christmas songs off the the H100? Our would they allow Christmas songs to reenter indefinitely?

Unholy had the craziest chart run. It was affected by Taylor and Drake album bombs and then Christmas

The AIW run is pretty funny, too. It was stable in the Top 3 for like 30 weeks, then fell into the 30s and back in the Top 10 again.

That chart run is monstrous. Will it challenge Twist / Blinding Lights on the All-Time Hot 100 list?

Probably not. When the charts were stronger and moved faster during Christmas season, AIW dropped into the 30s. All it takes is one major album after Week 52, especially if the charts get stronger, to knock off AIW.

And even if AIW challenges Blinding Lights, the multiplier for this era will likely be dropped, and The Twist will be #1 again.

If you don't listen to radio or don't actively seek them out that doesn't surprise me tbh. Gone are the days of ubiquitous smash hits  :cries:
