Let’s not act like it’s not abnormal for a black R&B female artist to be doing this well on the BB200, when just last week SZA was the first to spend 3 weeks at #1 since Beyoncé in 2014. Be serious.

Oh! I get it now.

An athlete should stop winning or let player of other communities win. Just like France let Morocco (first African country to reach semi)  win in FIFA 2022 semifinal.

Record labels are all about business and money. They made more money by selling those million of MIDNIGHTS vinyl than they will ever make of SZA streaming numbers. Si why shouldn't they prioritise the artists who are making them more money?

Not against SZA thou, love her album.

It’s a vicious cycle. If major record labels promote white artists more, then they are bound to sell more. Thus, major record labels continue to invest more in white artists because they are selling more.

You need to just put a stop to the cycle by promoting and investing in black artists the same as white artists.

It matters a lot when white artists are continually given precedence on streaming.

8 of top 10 most streamed artists on Spotify US were black artists yesterday. 15 artists in the top 20.

Pop girls were always dragged for doing multiple remixes or whenever they pulled tactics that were perceived by other stans as "desperate" though. Let's not rewrite history. :rip:

That’s just not true :rip:

It matters a lot when white artists are continually given precedence on radio, in marketing by major record labels, and on streaming. A black woman getting #1 over a white artist who continually uses cheap tactics to enhance perceptions of her power and thus brand equity would not only be sweet justice, but it would also be a huge symbolic victory.

Perception ? Ahhh yeah let’s not act like she’s the most streamed female and the most successful artist rn

And why no one used that card when other artists blocked several black female artists ?

Yes, it is. People, including swifties, dragged Gaga to hell and back for selling some BTW copies for 0.99c in it's debut week back in the day.

Before you quote me with "it's not the same!", that was just one example from that time, but literally anything remotely perceived as a "desperate" or "cheap" tactic to get a #1 have always been dragged by other stans. It's not exclusive to the current climate, which was what the member I quoted was trying to imply.

There's no need to rewrite history just because your fave is getting that BTS treatment on ATRL. :rip:

Yall still going in here?

Now I wish Taylor would pull a folklore and sell signed cds every week. But shes busy with tour rehearsals fortunately for yalls mental health

Affirmative action #1 chart weeks has to be one of the most hilarious hills OTHs have decided to die on :bibliahh: you’re entitled to dislike marketing tactics in general, but turning this into Taylor stepping-on and interfering with “black history” is laughable :gaycat7:

Pop has always been good and playing the charts game. Whether that is the Hot 100 or the Top 200…they get it. Taylor’s team is the best at it. Labels should invest in their other genre artists as well

Sza still has arsenal under her belt, so it ain’t that bad

This is absolutely untrue. If we look at the most streamed artists in the US, most are black.

You would think that with all the success that Swift already has that something like something like this would be beneath her. It’s really cringe.

Well 99  c was the most desperate tactic and she didn’t even need to do this. So this not comparable. Billboard even changed their rules after that…
