Album no I actually think the best way to get a Diamond single was to have a single out in the overlap between Digital and Streaming. Maybe 2010ish to 2017ish. This way, you benefit from some people still buying music while also having a remembered hit to stream. Take a look at where most of the Diamond singles were released: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_singles_in_the_United_States Equally, maybe this is just because those songs got a head start.

The biggest song for 2022 was As It Was and it's only halfway

Diamond was unheard of in the digital era until streaming took off. I still think that the digital era was better for overall units unless you were a mega-smash (Old Town Road, Sunflower). Decent-sized hits now stall at 2-4M Platinum. While decent sized hits of the digital era benefit from sales and streams. Edited January 3, 2023 by Both Sides Now

They’ve revised it since then and the certifications have cooled down. In 2017, 100M YouTube views would get you close to Platinum. In 2019, you would require close to 400M for the same certification. Edited January 3, 2023 by Both Sides Now

For the RIAA certifications I think video streams still count the same as paid streams Billboard is the one that gives more weight to paid streams
doonerr Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Completely smashed her “Make It or Break It” era
MingYouToo Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 3× Platinum album. 17× single units sold 20 million units certified for the Planet Her era in the United States (so far) And this doesnt include Aint ****, all those random collabs like the one which gave Saweetie and Post Malone their surviving hit.
HEAVYONIT Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 A SMASH album. I wonder what the certs will look like at the 5-year anniversary

Machete Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Y’all saying smash when these numbers are very much mid. Almost 2 years since release and KMM is hardly 6x Platinum? Woman spent like 50 weeks charting and not even 4x? Compare this to other 2021 songs…

Compare this to other 2021 songs… Kiss Me More is in the top 10 songs for 2021 Hits in terms of US units It's #7 I think. Dont know Mood's or Heatwaves. Edit - Apparently Mood is 6X Platinum already, so its #8 or #9. Edited January 3, 2023 by Armani?
