Renan90 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 2022 ALBUMS: BUNNY'S VERANO MAKES HISTORY Bad Bunny's Un Verano Sin Ti (Rimas) is the biggest album of 2022 with 3.4m in total activity. This marks the first time a non-English-language album has finished the year with that distinction. Nearly 98% of Un Verano Sin Ti's activity came from streaming, with on-demand audio reaching nearly 4.3b in the U.S.—no other album this year came close to that number. Clocking in at #2 overall for the year is Taylor Swift's Midnights (Republic), which likely caused a few sleepless nights for Team Bunny after opening with a stunning 1.6m its October first week. Midnights remained a serious threat but ultimately finishes in the runner-up slot less than 100k behind Bad Bunny's blockbuster. In only 10 weeks, Midnights has accumulated more than 3.3m in activity. More than half of that, 1.8m+, comes from pure album sales—including a whopping 900k vinyl copies. Morgan Wallen's nearly two-year-old Dangerous: The Double Album (Big Loud/Mercury) is the second-most-streamed set of 2022 with more than 2.9b. Dangerous, which was 2021's top set, finishes the year with 2.4m in total activity, good for #3 overall. Harry Styles' Harry's House (Columbia) is the only other album to break the 2m barrier this year. It finishes 2022 at #4 with 2.2m in activity. See 2022's Overall Activity here. byzantium Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Can we just all take a thread to thank Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift for ensuring that that racist was not number 1 again?

MingYouToo Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I am so out of touch the only UVST song I listen to the one that went viral on TikTok because of cooking videos interlaced with gay sex
Sweet Sexy Savage Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Those streaming farms in Alabama looks fishy too..,
Sesame Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Wait, Morgan’s album was released in January 2021, and it did 2.4 million units this year? All because his fans bought it since he’s a racist?

FightDragonsWithMe Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Taylor #2 despite releasing at the end of the year
Taylena Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 No shade to Harry but i'm shocked Taylor practically did same streams as him despite him releasing way earlier in the year and having a 15 weeks #1 hit.

Orsay Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Bad Bunny's power is insane, I can't believe there's users here who don't see that he's the biggest male artist in the world right now

Nothing new but good for consistency purposes.
brianc33710 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I had hoped Swift could pass Bad Bunny for calendar year at least. I have a real problem taking an album that only sold 71k over 1.8 million & with all that video streaming. I can understand counting VOD for singles but not albums. Albums were only ODS in the beginning & that makes more sense. Buyers should count for more & freeloaders for less.
