Honestly 2nd gen music in general is kinda dated even for the time it was released in? Like 2010-2012 was some  of the best years in global Western music where we had all these pop girls and boys slaying, however Kpop releases back then was very behind and felt like they were releases from 2002-2004 if that makes sense? This is why a lot of people’s perception of Kpop are seen as “tacky”, since they still think that Kpop has the 2nd gen sound and aesthetic. But 3rd gen really shifted Kpop to a new direction and made Kpop seem more “cool” and made it easier for 4th gen to thrive globally. However a lot of people today still have all these stereotypes about Kpop.

Don’t get it twisted though, I still love me some of those dated 2nd gen music :katie2:

I think 2nd gen got its **** together tho and shifted concepts for the third gen to start. Like, yeah, most of 2nd gen was 2000's electropop with a hook that involved saying something in english over and over again but then f(x) and Shinee started experimenting with more "artsy" concepts and then everyone else followed along.

Thats how i CHOOSE to remember it anyways :katie2:

the best groups to come out of the 2nd gen were:

2NE1
T-ARA
KARA
SNSD

Tbh SHINee were too much of flops to the gp to influence things, but f(x) certainly influenced a lot alongside APink

APink really birthed and made several blueprints for the girls that are STILL followed to this day

the school-girl aesthetic even newjeans does

the quirky Mr Chu path

the elegant / sophisticated path with the 2nd half of their career

f(x) and SHinee had some of the most dated music in Kpop though? :skull:

The fact that these 2 songs were released in the same year :deadbanana2:

The only group with the word TOP in their name worth mentioning is TOPPDOGG:WAP:

No k-pop boy-group has debuted after them and managed to release noise EXCELLENCE like this.:jonny5: More BGs should plagiarize them, unfortunately, the vocals of 4th gen BGs could never.

for the time f(x) came out in they were innovative in an era where songs like Gee were smashing it was either cute or sexy concept.

I must admit that at first I didn't care for Stray Kids at all but after all the intrusive and aggressive propaganda and spamming on this forum I'm starting to like them more and more  :deadbanana4:

Not the intrusive and aggressive propaganda :deadbanana4:

But looks like the @Pluto2022 SKZ and Lee Know payola was effective, even for me I'm starting to fall on Lee Know and the Minsung ships

I'm not even trying to be shady AT ALL but why in the world would BlackPink not be on this list?

I'm not surprised about Twice, their US push has been so successful. But I thought BP would be on this list for sure
