theweekend Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 it's sad and heartbreaking but let her go with peace. nothing deserves to live through all this pain. that's the time adopt another cat to fulfill it with the love you gave peaches and she could've lived her life happily. you will pull through it and spread the love to honor her memory.
Auraeolux Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 When my cat had to be put down, I reminded myself that she is no longer suffering and in pain. My sadness over her death would be incomparable to the guilt I would feel at my own selfishness for allowing her to continue to live in physical agony. I'd rather much rather be devastated than have her suffer so I was almost happy to "take on" the pain from her so she could be at peace. It's still rough though. I would cry even at the thought of her for about a month or so.

My cat is 15 and a half, a year ago something was wrong and had to make multiple vet emergency trips, and she was diagnosed with liver disease initially. Took some meds that made no difference - was then diagnosed with hyperthyroidism instead. So for almost a year now she's been taking meds for that (felimazole), and honestly seems to be doing fine. She's old so sleeps a lot more, can't jump up very high, and has lost her hearing. However she still eats normally, runs around sometimes, grooms herself (though can't reach all spots like she used to). I don't know if there are other signs your cat is not doing well, but the diagnosis alone isn't a death sentence - they can live several years on treatment. We're looking into different treatments, and using what we have for now, so we'll see if they work out. Maybe Peaches will be fine for another good year or two
mercurialworld Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 Hi guys. Quick little update because everyone here was so kind, but we had to say goodbye to her today. Her health sadly took a turn for the worst last night, but her energy will be here forever. Hug your little ones while you can closely
40000000000000 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 i'm sure you've given peaches a wonderful life and will allow a dignified passing, and that's all you can do. don't fight your feelings, cry and mourn. but don't let it ruin you. as the biggest animal lover and the father of a kitty myself, i'm so sorry. i can't even imagine losing my baby so suddenly.
