I actually think he can pull it off if they go the rumored route of making him the main Big Bad

I mean, was there ever any doubt about how he would be a key character in S5? But I'm not complaining, I'm ready for the sister/brother duo slayage or a tragic sister/brother duel I guess

They’ve been alluding to Will being connected to Vecna/mind flayer. 

 

I think Will’s emotional scene with his brother in season 4 was most likely due to Will knowing what needs to happen for things to get better. He know he gotta go

This. Even before this announcement, there were so many theories that deducted that the show is heading in this direction.
