The comments are disgusting. I’m reading she might have died from poisoning not actually freezing.

So sad and tragic. RIP to this poor woman.

Are people encouraged to put carbon monoxide detectors in their car, it should really be a default and emergency services should warn everyone in those circumstances. So sad...

This is truly a real life nightmare. I hope the emergency services that she called are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted accordingly, if necessary... This seems like such a huge case of incompetence.

Girl you realise that emergency services also travel in vehicles and can get stuck during a snow and ice blizzard just like this woman? :rip:

The fault here clearly is on her work place for making her show up despite the national warnings. I hope they get prosecuted.

What a horrible way to die

That's why you always need to be checking your local news. The blizzard was forecasted days in advance so she should have just stayed at home that day or simply wait some hours at work

It’s hard to know what to do in this situation. It’s so sad because in the video you could see there was another van right by her car, so she wasn’t totally alone out there…. I would’ve tried to see if I could walk on foot to the nearest house for shelter but who would’ve known staying in the car would take a tragic turn from the carbon monoxide? This is sad but a lesson people can learn from. Staying in the car isn’t the safest the option unfortunately in a snow storm :chick3:

Allegedly she died from carbon dioxide poisoning, that traveled inward due to her cars tailpipes being blocked by the snow.

like her job knew there was a blizzard and still made her come in

This is really sad, may she rest in peace.

This is why I said if necessary. Obviously there are alot of factors that go into this. Definitely her workplace should be investigated especially if it's a nursing home... I'm finding it hard to believe there's no way somewhere like that couldn't possibly accommodate their staff and nurses in a dangerous storm.

So sad 😞

Also, this blizzard came down fast. So fast that the highway and roads were shut down while people were using them and they had to walk and abandon their cars or wait it out and hope help came.

It says when the car got stuck, she decided to sleep in her car before walking home but when she woke up she was trapped cause of snow build up. I mean she should have got out of the car immediately and walked to the nearest house/building.

Emergency services should be better prepared.

Overall a tragedy. RIP.

Watching the news, she wasn't the only one. There have been 40 deaths in Buffalo alone, as they keep finding people in their cars that passed away. Seems like many died very similarly to this girl. I don't know what it was like exactly, but perhaps the snow got too deep to move through by walking, and people had no choice but to stay in their cars.

If your car is stuck in snow for an extended period of time, TURN IT OFF. That avoids the carbon monoxide risk that ultimately claimed this young lady's life

Yup, this is good to know. Unfortunately a few of the deaths did to this but were found frozen to death in their cars, probably due to the extremely cold temperatures. Probably a good idea to have emergency heat packs and blankets in your car just in case.

my best friend's brother has been communicating with us from Buffalo

he said he was fortunate that he never lost power because his gas pipes froze over and he couldn't properly heat his apartment

he had two heaters and a ton of blankets keeping him and his dogs warm

he knows of a few neighbors who ended up dead in da cold, there was a dead body a block from him
