Feanor Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 (edited) Despite being one of the biggest artists of the 21st century, Britney Spears has never headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Her only appearance on the Super Bowl to date was as a special guest to Aerosmith and NSYNC's show in 2001. Given her current circumstance and her own comments about maybe or maybe not returning to music/performing, it seems unlikely that she'd accept such a big performance slot anymore, at least not any time soon. But looking back, from 2000 or so to like 2019 (when her fight against her conservatorship went into overdrive), when you do you think would've been the most ideal time/year for Britney to headline the Super Bowl? Abracadabra Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Probably 2004, and would have also prevented the Janet fiasco from happening
KatyPrismSpirit Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Probably 2011 during the Femme Fatale era. She just came from a big era and tour and could've made Femme Fatale era 10 x more remarkable. She could've aslo had Kesha and Nicki as guests to perform Til The World Ends. Nicki had a big year that year and so did Kesha.

allforyou Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 2016 or 2017, she was in great shape. I don't see the point of her doing it before that, she was too young to do it.
Scorp Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 2004 was THEE year. Peak performance skills, peak media exposure (positive), peak brand power. Me Against The Music Slave/Light Ya As On Fire Crazy stop remix/OOPS Boys/Nasty Boyz Janet Toxic finale If Bruno can do it with two albums and Katy with three Britney should have ATE that up.
Asparagus Spears Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 I really think if she’s gonna make a comeback I’d like to see her do the Super Bowl first but it’ll probably be a VMA performance instead

zoldyck Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Never, she is teen icon made for MTV stages. Stage like grammys and superbowl are beyond her capabilities at any point of her career.

Not when Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez have done the Superbowl and Rihanna is about to do it and peak Britney could outperform all of them. As if the Superbowl halftime is some bastion of untouchable artistry, stop flattering yourself.

Rihanna and Katy has shown much more versality than Britney when its come to performance. Britney is and always been performers that can only appeal to teenagers and gays and therefore always confined to stages of MTV awards and other B-award shows. Edited December 27, 2022 by zoldyck
slw84 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 I think 2004 would have been too soon. If 2009 was without a conservatorship and was a comeback on her terms it would have been ok right before her Circus tour kickoff. I also think 2013 would have been great before the Vegas show as she had her last smash hit Scream and shout doing well and it would lead to anticipation for future shows. 2013 Superbowl Scream and Shout with Will i am (One verse/one chorus) Circus Baby Oops Slave for you Toxic Stronger (first verse/last chorus)

Firstly, I don't see what her demographic has to do with the Superbowl, Britney Spears was the biggest popstar in the world for several years and had the most lavish amd creative stage shows after Madonna, she could knock out an absolutely iconic halftime show. Secondly, you don't become the biggest popstar in the world by only appealing to one demographic as other popstars who decided to pander to gays only to have their careers subsequently crash and burn found out. Britney had cross demographic appeal by marketing herself as a girl next door and a sex symbol which attracted people from all stripes. As with most popstars, her biggest audience is still women. But again, I don't see what that has to do with anything? Halftime has popstars and Britney was the biggest popstar in the world, that's why she already did the Superbowl halftime. As for Katy Perry and Rihanna being better performers that prime Britney, that's just delusional.

I get it she was mesmerizing to you and other gays/kids/teenagers during her peak. But there is reason she only performed at Grammys once and never got called back, only got to perform one song at superbowl that was not even hers. If she was that big, the producers would have been dying to have her on stage for ratings. But she never was such a thing as a performer outside MTV awards shows aimed at gays/teenagers.
La Reina Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 2004. Anyone saying any year after that is delusional. People are way too critical and negative these days so she'd get dragged ruthlessly if she did it now.
Distantconstellation Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 2004. After that year she was never really able to perform anymore and like someone else said she would be torn apart these days if they had her on stage
