She should just put together a remix compilation of all the album tracks that deserved to be singles cos none of the songs post Jackie have done anything for me.

How many times you think she's gonna mention Atlanta in this?

I would like that. Go Nicki Minaj "Queen Radio: Volume 1", make a compilation mixtape, and add this most recent run of 3 singles (Big Freedia, Summer Walker, Coast Contra), plus "Rooted", "Melanin", and "Evapora". Next, the missed singles:  "Overdose", "Livin It Up", "Hotline", "Tell Me What Ur Name Is", "Turntables f. Chris Brown", "Turn It Up f. Usher", "Read My Lips", "Where You Go" f. Future, and "High Price f. Ludacris". Finally, outtakes: add "Got Me Good" (Darkchild), "Sorry" (Jasper Cameron), "Sweat f. 2 Chainz" (Da Internz), Why You (StarGate), "Wash Away / Running" (Livvi Franc), "Twerk A Little", and 'Hit-Boy" (a Hit-Boy and Soundz beat that Ciara recorded but was given to Kendrick for "Backseat Freestyle" when it didn't make her project).

"Why You" wasn't Ciara. But I like this idea!

Who was it? The only other prominent R&B person with a similar vocal tone at the time was probably Christina Milian.

Doesn't really sound like Jordin Sparks, Keke Palmer, or Keri Hilson either (who use similar phrasing as Ciara sometimes).

She really lost her touch. Boring male shouting the title song and her doing the verses all over again.

I honestly think this is a session singer or song writer. It's also not a Stargate production, it sounds nothing like their work. This sounds more like Polow, but it's probably just a smaller name producer. That era had a LOT of leaks wrongly labeled as big artists like Ci, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, and Cassie for example. A lot of them were demos submitted, but most of them didn't even get recorded by the respective artists.

To this day I've seen people reference this as their favorite Keri song, and it's not even her :deadbanana4:

Also not her, and it even fooled me at first! Here's the actual artist:

Just went off of what the tags said when I first downloaded it off a P2P site a decade ago lol.. but upon researching today it is actually Jasper Cameron ("Sorry/Promise") and Midi Mafia (Frank Ocean's "Lonny Breaux Collection").

Not yet, we're not even positive that she will release it as a single. She's said nothing about it :monkey: Hopefully soon because this actually sounds really good.

What was the point of performing the song but not following it up with a release...

Dropping the ball, again.

How many singles will she get before the album comes and goes.

she killed the performance as usual. I'm still on the fence about all these feel good empowerment anthems... I want some complexity and weirdness. I've been playing 'the evolution' a lot lately (my fav from her) and GOD the whole thing bops.

There is not really an audience for those type of records and the lyrics are way too weak & corny for me......I mean i understand what she is trying to do but......no(she needs better songwriters & production for that).

I heard she has a record with lil baby, she should drop that instead.

Sounds dated, which of course is very on brand for Ciara.

OH MY GOD, I used to listen to Remote Control non-stop when I was a kid, it was even labelled as a Rihanna demo at some point LMAO.

It’s called artistic integrity sweetie! She knows her brand and sound.

She seems to work with the same wack songwriters and producers who had dated sounds

This is easily the best of the new songs she's dropped. She's most certainly making a calculated play for TikTok success (which could backfire), but it's the easiest on the ear, has a universally relatable subject matter, and is actually a little progressive for her (the chorus, anyway). It's giving a slight vibe of:

My only issue with her is why drop Jump (which was meh and more of the gym/zumba music she keeps getting lashed for) and then Better Thangs (which sounded dated and a waste of Summer Walker feature) first if she had this all along?

Also, how did she sign to a label and is getting the least push she's had in ages. From playlisting to radio...it's giving nothing.

I'm hoping they are saving the all-out push for the most bankable track they have, which may be one of the rumored big collabs she has e.g. Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Latto. But I'm not holding my breath. Because spending so much $$$ on a Dave Meyers video for Jump only to spend nothing on payola for it tells me all I need to know about those managing the music aspect of her career atm. She has great brand management and has made quite the rebound since the dark days of Basic Instinct. But she needs dedicated music management. Pending that, I hope she can score a cute viral moment.

Maybe the budget just isn’t there anymore.

I believe Ciara is a happy mother, wife, and industry veteran just doing what she loves. She finds the funding or funds herself and makes the music she likes. She gets enough back that she can keep going and has enough brand recognition to book a stage. She’s happy with it has not changed and will not.

I think any one awaiting a new Ciara song to be something groundbreaking is waiting for Jesus. Take that how you want.

I get both sides.

There's a definite content-ness she has that is clear to see. Call it sticking to her convictions or stubbornness, but she does her pretty unapologetically.

BUT...we cannot forget that this is the music business. I can't be convinced she's turning a profit on any of this. Directors like Dave Meyers are not cheap. Even on "friends and family rates".

Her enlisting people like that make clear that she wants to deliver and arguably compete on a grand scale. I'd be more inclined to believe that she's not fussed about commercial success if she was doing a Tinashe or Dawn Richard. Economical videos released often and endless touring for a niche audience. But that's not her steez. She's going for mainstream looks, mainstream directors, and mainstream features.

It'd be different if she was having Rihanna-like success with her other ventures, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Money clearly isn't an issue for her, but as long as being an artist is her main hustle, she kinda sorta has to get her ish together and fast. It doesn't make sense to be haemorrhaging funds on output that is delivering less and less returns. She either has to pivot to a more Tinashe/Dawn Richard route or really put the right people/strategists/creatives/overall team in place to ensure her efforts aren't constantly in vain.

Good point, cause that Jump video was amazing and looked really expensive. All I know is for the last 15 years Ciara has found a way against all odds to fund her endeavors and her videos always look on point. So based off of that, I feel like she could go on forever. Nothing has stopped her yet. Lol.
