Europe Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Do you think her controversies will overshadow her astronomical contribution to culture & literature, not even mentioning her philantrophy or will she mostly be mentioned in the context of discourse surrounding trans people?
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted December 27, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2022 JK Rowling will be remembered for her transphobia and bigotry Harry Potter is almost a separate entity at this point and will be remembered more as the movie series with the main actors than it is from the books.
bidet Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 lbr a very small % of people in the GP cares about trans rights and JK Rowling she won't be praised by her peers/media for her contribution to the culture because everyone will be afraid of getting canceled but the legacy of the harry potter franchise will live on forever (and rightfully so)
Breakdown Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 The first billionaire author (and a charitable one at that) of the most legendary book/movie series ever known as Harry Potter. That's what the gp will remember her as.

Most people who are fans of the HP franchise do not care and half of those who do probably share the same views with her.
vale9001 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 the discourse of people outside twitter world are about her being the HP writer even now.
gatito Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 a nasty human being who died alone and rots in hell
Pop culture Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 JK Rowling will be remembered as the author of Harry Potter. Once she passes the discussions around her ideologies will be in the rear view mirror.

Schami66 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 I met a good friend of mine last week and we've been obsessed with Harry Potter, when we were teenagers. I asked her what she thought about JK Rowling these days and she didn't even know about JKs field trip against trans people. Maybe it's the same with the GP?
illia Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 an author who wrote Harry Potter like it or not but Harry Potter still has a massive following and the GP doesn’t care about her opinions on certain things (or they agree with her)

IDK if this is necessarily true, since Daniel Radcliffe and co. didn't want her involved in that Harry Potter reunion movie last year.
PoisonPill Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 *Stepping outside the internet bubble for a moment* She will be remembered as the creator of the most beloved and successful book series and media franchise in history. Billions of people around the world know and love Harry Potter, a tiny sliver of a percent have ever heard about her tweets.
bestfiction Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 GP isn't really aware of her current bigotry, so she'll be remembered as an author of successful series of books. If Harry Potter stands the test of time (which is doubtful), she'll be praised and remembered, if not she'll probably be forgotten. Her bigotry won't overshadow the artistic value of her books, it sucks but it is what it is. I mean Lovecraft was a raging racist and he's still remembered and impactful
LeMésTragique Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 As a talented successful writer, creator of one of the most beloved fictional universes and women rights advocate
Badgalbriel Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 As the writer of Harry Potter. No one outside of the lgbtqia+ group of people cares about her views.
Heartbreak Prince Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 (edited) The GP will remember her as the author of Harry Potter. No-one cares about her views outside of a tiny Twitter bubble of TQ+ stans and the pronoun screamers. Edited December 27, 2022 by Heartbreak Prince
