Tropez Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 They don’t make good content anymore. They don’t. They just try to release a bunch of quick little shows. And they burn out, and then they put out a new one. And then they burn out. People don’t even watch a body of work anymore. I think people have such short attention spans. You open your computer, turn on your smart tv. And you see all this crap on Netflix.
God_Donna Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 They are racist among other things. Condone violence and glorify serial killers. Delete that toxic mess.

And why songs and videos are getting shorter, movies are getting shorter, etc.? it’s not just Netflix.
Beyonnaise Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 They're the McDonalds of streaming. They don't care about making prestige television anymore. In the early 10s they had to prove themselves so they invested heavily in critically acclaimed and actually culturally groundbreaking shows like House of Cards and OITNB. Now they know the GP will eat up whatever schlock they pump out so they really don't have to prioritize quality or artistic depth. HBO is for the tasteful girls.

Zoomer Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Glass Onion was a serve, so I’ll have to disagree

There's of course a larger critique and phenomenon of attention spans dwindling and mediocrity being pushed, yes. I do think it's fair to note that none of Netflix's shows now will be remembered the way classics like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad. But like I said before, they don't have to care.
harwee Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) They shouldn't have been allowed to purchase Knives Out. Its verging on unfair trade practices. Its an IP born out of the theatrical industry support where it should have stayed primarily. Like what Spielberg said (or was it Scorsese), everything to Netflix is "just content". Studios with streaming platforms are better cause they have vested interest in keeping their film legacy. Netflix DGAF about any of that, they just want quantity. Edited December 26, 2022 by harwee

Yes, it is, and I'm explaining to you a big reason as to why Netflix is dishing these "quick shows" out every minute they can. It's to compete more effectively. We, as consumers (and as I just explained), have short attention spans and there is increased competition within the streaming services industry - thus we are likely to switch. They release fast content in hopes that something will stick, and also due to the fact streaming is in an all-time high, so it would keep us busy checking out their new content. Not saying the majority of their recent releases aren't trash - they are - but we as consumers don't have the patience to keep waiting 2 years for another 10 episode season of a show like House of The Dragon. I would argue HBO realized this with White Lotus, hence they are able to keep the momentum going by releasing each year. 24 minutes ago, Beyonnaise said: There's of course a larger critique and phenomenon of attention spans dwindling and mediocrity being pushed, yes. I agree - there's maybe like one show a year that really makes it big for the right reasons - ie. this year I guess it was Wednesday.
Orsay Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I mean HBO has been superior But Netflix made Bloody Mary a hit so not too much on them
Breathe On Moi Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 every now and then I’m like wow why the **** do i pay for Netflix then I get an email about a crime show that I watched like two years ago having a new season, then i fall in the trap again.

Sometimes they get luck and land a good one. And then when it’s good they proceed to ruin it, or cancel it.
flower moon Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I cancelled my sub when they cancelled The OA and never looked back
aesthetic bih Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I only used it to watch Alice in Borderland S2
RockStarShit101 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 i don't get you! if you hate it that much, then stop watching netflix or its shows you don't have to go through this misery, and that goes to all of you, too
Mr.Link Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) Did it take you this long to realize? It’s been trash for years. The Wednesday bandwagon is tragic aswell. I guess the special snowflakes who had wet dreams with Dahmer needed entertainment. Edited December 26, 2022 by Mr.Link
Guest Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) Netflix originals are known to be trash for a long time at this point? But yeah Netflix is over now that streaming isn't that niche anymore. Every big entertainment studio has their own streaming service nowadays there's no point as no one is watching for their shitty originals Edited December 26, 2022 by Mouchette
