Distantconstellation Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 I feel most eat their Xmas dinner the night of the 24th and open their gifts by 12am (25th) so by that point Xmas is pretty much over. In the states people open their gifts in the morning (25th) and eat a Xmas meal on that day.
ToxDust Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Yes, you wake up on the 25th and it's just another holiday.
Dragonfly Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 it's over at 10pm on the 24th when my mother falls asleep
KillingYourCareer Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 No, the 24th is Christmas Eve and the 25th is actual Christmas in Italy
M!X Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 people in my country are Orthodox Christians so we celebrate it on the 7th of January
pavi Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Not necessarily. Here in The Netherlands Christmas Day (the 25th) is an official holiday, but so is 'second Christmas Day' (the 26th). We also have two days of Easter and two days of Pentecost, which I believe is different from the US. People here all celebrate differently. A lot of people I know actually celebrate Christmas for three days (Christmas Eve included). Since most of the country isn't religious anymore, it's often just dinner at different parts of the family. For example I had Christmas dinner yesterday with my mom's side of the family, will have Christmas dinner tonight with my boyfriend's family and I will have Christmas dinner again tomorrow with my boyfriend and some of our friends Not all people here celebrate with presents during Christmas, while some do. Especially families with young children often don't, since December 5th we already celebrate Sinterklaas: a holiday where a saint brings gifts. It's actually the saint Santa Claus was derived from I think it just differs a lot per country, depending on the social function of Christmas and the amount of religious people. Might even matter if your country is catholic, protestant or both
Zaram Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 25th & 26th are the holidays to visit the rest of the family here. But every family does it different tbh. Some just lay lazy around those two days.
Last Boy on Earth Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) Portugal: dinner on the 24th, open presents at midnight, go rest and then lunch until late on the 25th. Edited December 25, 2022 by Last Boy on Earth
Robert Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Everyone opens their presents and eats on 25th in the UK. I assume other Western European countries are similar.

Istan4R Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Christmas Eve>>>>Christmas. Once Christmas Eve is over I’m looking forward to New Years (coming from Mexican in US)

gustavothehuman Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) Here in Brazil we do our celebrations in the 24th and usually hold a Secret Santa before dinner gets served at midnight. In the 25th the family gathers again for lunch. After that we're pretty much in a vacation limbo until New Year's Eve. Edited December 25, 2022 by gustavothehuman
ninasayers Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Yes, that's how it's always been for me here in Argentina. We celebrate during the 24th, open the gifts at 12, stay up for a few more hours and that's it. Some people might stay at someone's house and have lunch there on the 25th but idk how frequent that is.
vale9001 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) For me christmas is the christmas eve when you go around for the last presents and there is a big dinner in the night. The real christmas day is already a boring day. Edited December 25, 2022 by vale9001

princedonte Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 It was over for me in 2005 when my patents became a Jehovah Witness/Israelite combo.
Cloudy Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) In Spain Christmas is actually not ver until the 6th which is "Día de Reyes" or in english they three wise men and people open presents then and also have a big lunch But we basically have Christmas Eve where everyone has big dinner, open presents (although some open them on the 25th) and then we have Christmas on the 25th and have a big lunch Edited December 25, 2022 by Cloudy
Kamil24 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 No for Polish people it's Christmas season until January 6th.
