Bloodflowers. Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 The biggest and longest running Australian TV show in history never received any awards acclaim despite being a massive cultural show that was also the starting point of many stars such as Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance, etc. that started their early careers there
brainmaniac Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Why would an Australian show get nominated for Emmys

Babe, the Daytime Emmys and the Primetime Emmys are two different things. Neighbours (and Home and Away) never really aired in the States; at Neighbours' peak, the US had twelve daytime soaps on air. Put 2 and 2 together...
brainmaniac Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 18 minutes ago, Bloodflowers. said: Why did Korean show Squid Game get nominated or British show The Crown? Because they’re available on US Netflix. That Australian show wasn’t shown on any US channels and you won’t find current Korean or British shows that aren’t available to US audiences getting nominated for Emmys either

Snoopy Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Neighbours* and because it isn't popular US tv show, I'd assume. Was only popular in Australia and the UK (and maybe some other small Commonwealth countries?)
Mariya Takeuchi Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Show me one scene that deserved an Emmy Prisoner Cell Block H/Wentworth are the only good Australian shows I've seen.
Katamari Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 No one cares about Kylie Minouges Neighbors tbh

JBJT2786 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Neighbours isn't shown in the US. The actors that broke out from the show are more known than the show itself
byzantium Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 I think you need to be known to get a nomination. I might be wrong though. Has anyone heard of the Emmys nominating a completely unknown entity in their sleep?
