byzantium Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) I’m currently sitting in Wisconsin where the wind chill is -35f. This is neither chaos nor once in a generation. We deal with this every year nowadays. However, I feel bad that this is hitting Chicago and all the flights that are delayed/canceled. Chicago is a major flight hub especially around this time of year. Edited December 23, 2022 by byzantium
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) I live in Chicago for the last 20 years, and this happens every winter. It’s just feels about 30 degrees colder than usual, and we usually get worse storms in January and February. Definitely not once in a life time. Lmfao. But I do hope homeless and those less fortunate stay safe and warm this season Edited December 23, 2022 by Gorjesspazze9

ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted December 23, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2022 I'm currently typing this from my remote cabin in North Dakota and this is nothing new. I lost the tip of my nose to frostbite yesterday when I went out to check my traps for game (found a squirrel, but it was a solid block of ice and inedible), but that's no big deal. I'm used to these temperatures lmao.
spree Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 it's gonna get into the upper 40's here in Florida. Stay safe ya'll.

CottageHore Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) I mean, I live in MN and we experience -40 degree temps every year in January. I get that for more southern states experiencing subzero temps, that’s definitely a huge deal and 100% indicative of climate change but up here- none of this is abnormal. The blizzard we got last week that dumped 2.5 feet of snow seemed much more groundbreaking Edited December 23, 2022 by CottageHore

kandicha Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I live far enough south that it's really cold but we aren't getting snow, but I was on the phone with clients from upstate New York and a lot of them are having to change or even cancel holiday plans due to the incoming blizzard. Awful timing on a weekend everyone is traveling, hope everyone stays safe.
mercurialworld Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Me watching from my city in Canada where it's currently above 6C/42F
Aston Martin Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 My power just went out and it’s currently 10F outside this is great
Chemist Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 many coldest temp records so yeah it was "once in a generation" for many Americans
dabunique Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 It’s 48 here in Miami hasn’t been this cold on Xmas since I was 12 in 1989
Bears01 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I live by Chicago, and it’s not usually this bad this early. January/February, you’re used to it by now. But late December: not really
Kamil24 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 This storm kind of flopped. They were hyping it up as a "generational storm" in the Toronto area, but there's barely any snow. It's just super cold and windy, nothing unusual for us.
Chemist Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 50 deaths so far. 20 in Buffalo, NY alone
