tesla was always going to lose its "leading" status once more manufacturers began creating electric cars. tesla was only ever #1 because it was one of the only EV manufacturers. now that others are doing it and with much better build quality, tesla will continue to go downhill.

Volkswagen ran literal concentration camps, when’re people gonna talk about that? As if he’s the first car manufacturer to be ideologically out of alignment with consumers. Elon’s employees have been speaking out against him for years. It’s a bigger crime to these people to ruin Twitter than it is to grossly exploit workers. These people may identify as liberal but they don’t have an intrinsic value system, they’re just desperate to look cool. It was a hot brand, it’s out now, we gotta stop trying to politicize our vapid choices, yeesh

If we are going to go back to the 1930s/40s, Henry Ford was an Anti-Semite who, after the German annexation of Austria, accepted an award from Hitler. Both Ford and General Motors Opel trucks were widely used by Hitler's armies in the invasion of Poland and throughout the war. At Pearl Harbour, a large number of those attacking Japanese aircraft were made by Mitsubishi.

I'm not sure if anyone was clean in those days.

People might prefer to focus on what car makers are doing this century. Tesla sold it's cars on the benefits of clean electric technology and collected billions of government subsidies in the process.

Now Musk is pandering to the same people that don't believe in climate change and would rather drive a gas guzzling V8 to own the libs.

That's quite a radical shift in branding.

Not only that, but the Tesla model range is beginning to get rather dated. In the US market, people expect new models every few years. The Tesla model 3 is over 5 years old and the Model S is over 10 years old.

Will they ever deliver the Cybertruck?

Musk should be focusing on rolling out new car models, rather than twitter culture wars. No wonder the Tesla stock price is falling fast. Other car makes stocks have fallen too in the past year, but not as much as Tesla.

In a year of high gas prices, Tesla should be ahead of the others, not falling faster.

I do think this is another case of performative rich liberals being performative rich liberals, but they have the right to be performative with their money. Tesla used to be a status symbol for the tech savvy and environmentally conscious, and now it’s just associated with cryptobros  and Musk sycophants. I don’t blame them.

I had some stock in Tesla in like 2018 but sold it after a year because my friend is really into cars and he told me they're gonna be irrelevant in 5 years because every other car brand will have their own EV and they won't be special, he had the tea :jonny:

It explains why Elon bought Twitter despite it being an abjectly foolish business decision, it was just his attempt at staying relevant because once Tesla falls, his status as the richest man will come crumbling down like the house of cards it always was.

People are allowed to be performative with their dollars.

There are numerous reasons to not support Tesla (e.g., most of their profit coming from the selling of carbon credits, which isn't in the interest of combatting climate change [x]). But, ultimately, it's a luxury brand among EV manufacturers. If the brand doesn't seem cool, then obviously people aren't going to buy it. Tesla's whole marketing is based on performative gesturing, so I'm not sure how you can criticize people for choosing to take their dollars elsewhere.
