Like, call it what it is, it’s just Botox. I understand it in the future but for people in their early 20s to be promoting it, that’s wild to me As the user earlier sad, botox won't do much if you're late in life and your lines already start appearing. You do it early because you also want your face muscle to adjust, to not tighten or tuck your skin so much that it creates visible lines. If you do it much later in life, that is when you start to look unnatural because then you'd need 200+ units around your face. I don't know where you're coming from but it seems like wherever you are, there is still a negative stigma around botox. Whereas from where I am, it is nothing out of ordinary.
Negev Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Lip filler- about 3.5 syringes over 2 years but I stopped because it started migrating big time. Made a mistake of not going to a dermatologist but different nurse practitioners- whom aren't all bad but their performance and skill are inconsistent. so, do proper research and don't base your choice soley on Instagram notoriety. I'm also big on tretinoin 0.05% it works well for even skin tone, anti-aging and acne reduction.
Why Try Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Nope. Not for me, personally. I just slather on that sunscreen everyday, stay out of the sun when I can on super sunny days, drink a lot of water, use retinol at night and just overall try to live a healthy lifestyle.

What age would you recommend doing it? I've started noticing some lines around my face (laugh lines) this year that are starting to look like scars, even when I'm not smiling they're pretty visible. I'm not sure what's causing them to appear so fast and so deep because they weren't there at the beginning of the year, but it doesn't look great. I'm in my late 20's and I don't know if it's too early to consider it.

If you're in your late 20s that's the perfect time This is because your collagen stars decreasing when you are 25 by 1% hence getting lines is easier around this time. It's just going to get worse, no matter how many creams (tretenoin, retinol) - they do not have any significant impact to your collagen production and cannot match up with the speed of collagen decrease. I would recommend 24. But for people who live in a very hot climate (due to UV exposure), you can start as early as 22 and for those who have dry skin and live in cold weather (where your skin cracks easily).
Hitchhiker Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Got a nose job, 50% of it was breathing problems that quite literally haunted me for YEARS the other 50% was fixing it shape, it was leaning to the left and it always bothered me when I took photos

Technically, tretinoin was used for acne a few decades ago and still is used to this day, but they discovered that it makes your skin produce collagen, which is what helps a lot in preventing early wrinkles and keeping your skin plump and not saggy. Our skin naturally produces collagen up until the age of 25, which is when you'll eventually start developing visible wrinkles etc. You can combat this with tretinoin, prescription-only topical cream. You should check out before and after pics on Google. Insane what it can do, and how it improves overall skin texture & evens skin tone.
Roman Holiday Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I got a BBL and lipo, hoping to get Botox within a year or two if I can afford it
Richmond Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) Yes, I got a nose job and it was the best decision I've ever made in my life. I have maybe two/three more surgeries that I want to do (beard transplant/maybe a hairline transplant... and maybe hooded eyelid surgery because my eyelids are droopy and it's only going to get worse as I get older) but it's soo expensive here and I'm stuck debating doing that vs. spending it on travel. When I say the above, my sister thinks I'm mentally ill but I honestly don't see the issue with fixing something if you don't like it and have the finances... We're on this Earth for one life. Besides, it's not like I want to change EVERYTHING about my body - those couple of things are the only things and I wouldn't go past that. Edited December 25, 2022 by Richmond

ConceptD Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I had a nose job at 18, not for aesthetic reasons but medical and it kind of changed the shape a little bit by slimming it front on but nothing really noticeable thankfully because I didnt really have a bad nose - just breathing issues. I’ve been getting Botox periodically too for the last couple of years and it’s done wonders because I use tanning beds, so whether that will still catch up with me or not yet is undetermined because I’m still fairly young but it’s working so far and I don’t really have any wrinkles while still having movement of my face. I just don’t have any fine lines when my face is dormant or a crease in my forehead. Not sure if these count as ‘plastic surgery’, but they were medical procedures that altered my appearance so I’ll list them. I’ve had dental bonding done, which was great because I’m planning on getting veneers in the future and wanted to kind of see how they’d look without having my (pretty decent/not crack head looking) teeth filed down. It looks fantastic and I think as long as I stick to the size my teeth are, don’t go too white and use a good dentist I’ll be okay. Also I’ve had a circumcision for aesthetic reasons which I justified by thinking of how many women have boob jobs and a couple of facial moles removed. I’m not sure if I’d have anything further than this or very small amounts of filler later on in life but I’d never judge anyone for having work done - but I think that if you do then you should be open about it because lord knows how insecure it can make you feel to believe people look how they do naturally when it costs a lot of money and effort/pain for them to do so.

Not everyone has to have it if they don’t want to, but people that do shouldn’t be shamed for it.
Leptine Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Nah, I'm satisfied with my look, I would be too scared of ruining my face, healthy lifestyle, good skincare, SPF and avoid the Sun is my way to go.
Escape Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) No I do not. I'm somewhat content with the way I look. I'm too scared of botched plastic surgery to get anything done anyways. Edited December 26, 2022 by Avariko
Brooklyn Baby Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Some people in here don't know what the f*** they're talking about when it comes to botox is and it shows.

There also aren't enough examples of people who started doing it in their 20s who are currently in their 50s or over to see if it works since it's a new toxic trend. Plenty of dermatologists don't even agree with this concept since not using your muscles leads to muscle atrophy.
Atlantis Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 No and while I wouldn't judge anyone for getting botox I think it's encouragers are very weird.

Well I’ve been to a myriad of dermatologists over the years and they not only all do Botox, but they have also all told me about the benefits of starting it young before wrinkles start to form. It’s common sense. If you paralyse the muscles that cause wrinkles then the wrinkles don’t set in. I’m not saying everyone should get Botox, to each their own, but it obviously has an effect and makes a lot of sense that it works better to start getting it before you ever develop wrinkles in the first place.

JoeAg Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 no, and i don’t think i’d want to tbh my mom, both her sisters, and my grandma all had nosejobs. and then one of my brothers, one of my sisters, and i all inherited my mom’s original nose. but here’s the kicker: that sister of mine who inherited my mom’s nose BECAME A SITE MODEL. which is just the biggest f*ck you ever to the societal pressure which told my mom her looks were too semitic and that she had to change something. my mom’s BEEN pretty, both before and after her rhinoplasty. we just have those good jewish genes, plain and simple so i don’t think i want to change my face at all. it’s unique, it’s arguably a bit iconic with my signature eyebrows and decent sized mouth and natural almond shaped eyes i was super insecure from ages like 9-21 and i just never liked the bump on my nose and my height (5’6) and how sleepy my eyes sometimes look and how curly my hair is. but things have filled out more as i’ve come to my mid-20s and though i still occasionally grapple with some forms of self-doubt, i’m more comfortable in my own skin than i’ve ever been one thing i’ve always wished i had is freckles though lol, i’m jealous of people with freckly faces
harwee Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 No i don't feel like i need it yet but I'm looking into it if i can afford it
Taylucifer Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) agree with tretinoin for anti-aging but just a warning, be careful putting it under your eyes, a lot of users have complained that it gave them wrinkles that won’t go away and also gland dysfunctions Edited December 26, 2022 by Taylucifer
