I guess every decade is truly unique fashion wise. Came to say this. Every other decade has been like that, we are just going through the y2k revival at the moment.

besaid Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Gwen's Rock Steady era kinda did this trend the best while mixing in the punk/emo aesthetic that was around too.
Roman Holiday Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 "Futurism" was all the rage around 1999-2003, so thats why alot of the fashion from that time has shiny metallic vibes and everyone dressed like a techno raver.
John Slayne Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 instagram and social media gave us a class of insta baddies who all look the same and wear the same uniform. and everyone else is trying to be like them. people in the late 90s and early 00s worked with what they had and just went with whatever they liked. more often than not the looks were not all that but at least it was original. people like to revisit that fashion era now because of its uniqueness and personality + the 20 year nostalgia cycle is kicking in and what was considered bad and tacky then is considered edgy, referential, and camp now
