That image was the creepiest part of the movie for me! there was never a brother, it was Beau looking in on himself. people thinking THIS movie was ‘too abstract’ must hate masterpieces like mother!

Spoiler Yeah I just saw it again and I agree. Also, I can't believe that the guy in the basement wasn't also played by Joaquin Phoenix. It looked just like him

Uncatena Posted April 25, 2023 Author Posted April 25, 2023 im SCREAMING. Ari sent Mariah a letter and the scene, assumed that she hadn't seen it when it got approved and when he met her, she said she loves it. thats ******* crazy
Lost In Paradise Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 I love love love that there’s so many ways to interpret this and none of them are wrong Ari really said **** the cinema podcasters and redditors who wanted to be the first to “figure out” this movie its both painfully obvious and completely up for interpretation in different ways
Hector Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 (edited) Having just seen this, I didn't hate this and Jaoquin CARRIED. The film is way too divisive for awards season, but his performance deserves recognition. Better than Hereditary & Midsommar? No, but a thoroughly fascinating & interesting if though perplexing film. The Always Be My Baby scene Edited April 29, 2023 by Hector
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted April 29, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted April 29, 2023 I went in blind and WHEW, what a RIDE Spoiler Also, my mother died last month, so some scenes were... a lot The downside to seeing movies without knowing anything about them.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 Just saw this and I'm very glad this got made even if it's downright messy at times. The reveals towards the end in particular felt forced and muddled. The 1st act is masterful though. Joaquin was absolutely fantastic and Legend Lupone came out guns ablaze. In a just world this gets in for SAG Ensemble.

Imo, at times it felt like the same points were being repeated without being further developed.

genetic fail Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Finally watched this! The first act was phenomenal! I can’t say I loved the next two acts after that but it was definitely interesting.

flower moon Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 that was such a grating, convoluted hodgepodge of scenes and characters. a waste of 3 hours.
Pendulum Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I have no words ....... Thank god I didn't go to the theatre to watch it there because I would've lost my sanity by the one hour mark
commander Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 First half had me in a chokehold and then went downhill pretty fast.
