Actress Jenna Ortega has received her first Golden Globe nomination for the hit Netflix series, Wednesday.

The nominations for the Golden Globes 2023 have now been revealed, with the series, which follows The Addams Family member into her teenage years, also being nominated for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

Ortega, who has gotten the nod thanks to her critically acclaimed performance as titular Wednesday Addams, will go up against the likes of Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, Kaley Cuoco for The Flight Attendant, Selena Gomez for Only Murders in the Building, and Jean Smart for Hacks in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy category. No doubt many will now be calling for Ortega to take home the trophy.

Wednesday premiered on Netflix on November 23, and has since been met with glowing reviews from both critics and audiences alike. With much of the praise being directed at Jenna Ortega for her delightfully deadpan work as Wednesday Addams. Not only has the series been met with a positive response critically, Wednesday has also received huge viewing numbers.

Debuting at number one on Netflix in 83 countries, Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language Netflix series. Reaching a total of 341.2 million hours watched during its first week of release on the steaming platform, Wednesday has beaten other popular Netflix shows such as The Witcher, and beat the record previously held by the hugely successful Stranger Things.

I was surprised too :rip: I guess maybe you can submit before official release for these awards? The new Avatar movie got nominated for something...and it’s not even officially out yet :gaycat6:

As she should! It’s been a while since we’ve seen such a meteoric rise from an actress and it’s refreshing to see she has the talent to back it up! Can’t wait to see where her career grows even more from here
