TheWayWeWere Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Happy Ending the best drop as for now omg, nice to see Darren on your list well, it's not my favorite from him - his first three albums are masterpiece tho, but he's so talented and it's so nice to listen a pop album full of songs with a lenght more than a 3 minutes
Remmy Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Somehow I haven't heard any of these albums although I know Nymph is loved. Can't get into BLACKPINK unfortunately. COMPLETE MESS A nice track, especially to open the album (which was unfortunately their weakest. Still cute though.)

Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 40. Cheat Codes - Danger Mouse and Black Thought (August 12, 2022) I truly enjoy the lo-fi aesthetic this album went through with. The album flows phenomenally track to track and I think the album is extremely consistent and the intro track really being the only track I'm not truly like throughout the album. Overall, "Cheat Codes" is an all-around eargasmic hip-hop classics with carefully chosen features, raw, emotional, aggressive vocal deliveries, and solid songwriting. Top 3: The Darkest Part (feat. Raekwon and Kid Sister), Saltwater (feat. Conway the Machine) & Violas and Lupitas SPOTIFY 39. And I Have Been - Benjamin Clementine (October 28, 2022) A solid release from the an underrated British composer/musician. The vocals is striking, the instrumentation is gorgeous and the songwriting is on point. It is an enjoyably performed and paced record for anyone who likes moody piano-based baroque pop. Top 3: Atonement, Lovelustreaman & Recommence SPOTIFY 38. Never Let Me Go - Placebo (March 25, 2022) It's been a long ass time since Placebo made a brand new studio album (almost a decade to be exact) and they finally released their eighth studio album in 2022. This album has everything to please the old school fans. But it's not just a nostalgia driven return of form, but also a seriously excellent album full of creativity and focus, a fair achievement considering the album has almost an hour run time. Great to see a band still able to create a solid new music in 25 years into their career. Top 3: The Prodigal, Surrounded By Spies & Chemtrails SPOTIFY 37. kiCK iiiii - Arca (December 3, 2021) It's so good to hear Arca made a similar ambient style album like "&&&&&" and "Xen" again and yes i did in fact, cry when i heard this album for the first time The production on this album really is top notch and her dedication to this album is apparent. What a way to end the last installment to the "Kick" series. Every feeling built and accumulated from the series 1 into finale series is really well put together and it's pretty damn gorgeous. Top 3: Músculos, Fireprayer & Crown SPOTIFY 36. Fossora - Björk (September 30, 2022) This album is so beyond ahead of our time that all of us will understand how HUGE this album is someday. Absolutely amazing album that proves how timeless Björk's talents are. "Fossora" easily stands out as one of Björk's classics and it's so great to see her continue to push herself decades deep into her career Top 3: Victimhood, Fungal City (with serpentwithfeet) & Fossora (with Kasimyn) SPOTIFY
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 35. Asphalt Meadows - Death Cab for Cutie (September 16, 2022) While I haven't deep dive into their discography yet but this album comes through with some amazing moments that I haven't really expected. Also the instrumentation, the way it is mixed, just adds so much emotion and feeling to the album. The band proves on this record that they’re able to keep up with much younger indie acts, while also staying true to their signature vibe. Top 3: Foxglove Through The Clearcut, Rand McNally & Fragments From the Decade SPOTIFY 34. Dance Fever - Florence + The Machine (May 13, 2022) "Dance Fever" is Florence’s career best album since "Ceremonials". I'm not joking. This album is just fantastic This is probably the first time I’ve ever anticipated a Florence's album purely off the back of the quality of the singles. Her vocals sounds refreshed and re-energised on here and it’s great to see a return to form of sorts. It does have a bit weak spots along the way but I'd say this pretty much matched with my expectations. Top 3: My Love, Free & Girls Against God SPOTIFY 33. blue water road - Kehlani (April 29, 2022) I am very happy with the evolution of Kehlani. They've been reinventing themselves and making their work more unique with each album.s Many of the tracks landed in the "pretty good" rating for me. I think the best songs were the softer ones, like "Little Story", "Get Me Started", "Altar" and "Melt". Overall, The record has a meditative, reflective and very spiritual feel and i love ever minutes of it. Top 3: melt, up at night (feat. justin bieber) & altar SPOTIFY 32. Dirt Femme - Tove Lo (October 14, 2022) I’m a sucker for some damn good pop music and this album truly delivered that for me. This album brings bright yet obscure pop moment, with a great touch of synthpop and Tove Lo's untouchable authenticity. She also not afraid to be vulnerable and personal with the best pop hooks and polished synthpop production i've heard last year. Overall, there's nothing to dislike about this project. It's smooth, catchy, and bouncy. What more could you want with a Tove Lo? Top 3: 2 Die 4, Grapefruit & Attention ***** (feat. Channel Tres) SPOTIFY 31. Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue) - Christine and the Queens (November 11, 2022) We have another successful album from Chris. He explores some more of the melancholic synthpop he's became so recognized for, but adding some colder, abstract textures, and it matches surprisingly well. Truly one of the most captivating pop albums in 2022 for me. Top 3: Ma bien aimée bye bye, La clairefontaine & Les étoiles SPOTIFY
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 30. <COPINGMECHANISM> - WILLOW (October 7, 2022) This album is tight and easily replayable album with great highlights in vocal delivery and writing. The songs are also have progression while staying within catchy pop structures. This album shows that she dominates this new era in pop-punk. Her decisions worked in absolute spades throughout the record as she somehow created one of my favorite albums this year. Top 3: <Coping Mechanism>, ur a <stranger> & Perfectly Not Close To Me" (ft. Yves Tumor) SPOTIFY 29. ˣ‿ˣ (SMiLEY) - YENA (January 17, 2022) Having been a knowing about Yena because of her being on IZ*ONE, I had been anticipating her solo after the group disbanded. I really enjoyed the mini album and am very glad it met my expectations. These whole tracks feels like a classic happy Kpop music done in an actually good way, especially with its title track. If she maintains this quality of sound in further releases and not just trying to recreate it for the sake of it (SMARTPHONE, i'm looking at you!) then I believe she can truly become a successful soloist. Top 3: SMILEY(Feat. BIBI), Lxxk 2 U & VACAY SPOTIFY 28. Pompeii - Cate Le Bon (February 4, 2022) One of my most favorite discoveries of 2022, because it's just one of the best sounding albums that's come out that year. The production makes for a collection of lush, yet sleek, psychedelic-pop esque sounds. I hadn't paid much attention to Cate Le Bon until this release but it seems to be her best yet. Top 3: Harbour, French Boys & Moderation SPOTIFY 27. The Lead - FLO (September 21, 2022) FLO single-handedly going to bring back 2000s R&B/pop genre into mainstream in this new decade. Everything they have put out this year is clearly the work of a confident and generously talented group that know exactly what they're doing and this is the final product of it. Every songs in this EP are bangers and deserves a lot of attention. Can't wait for their debut album. Top 3: Cardboard Box, Not My Job & Immature SPOTIFY 26. 'The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm' - Red Velvet (March 21, 2022) Red Velvet back at it again with another masterpiece on their discography. Not only did they exceed my expectations but actually surprised me in the best way possible. This mini album delivers everything that I like about Kpop and pop in general. From 808s and beautiful jazzy chord progressions to funky, slap-bass-y and guitar solo induced R&B .So f*cking good and I hope they continue releasing bangers like these this year. Top 3: Rainbow Halo, In My Dreams & Feel My Rhythm SPOTIFY
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 25. INVU - The 3rd Album - TAEYEON (February 14, 2022) With her 3rd full album Taeyeon delivers a great and cohesive project. it doesn’t reinvent anything but maintains a sound of quality throughout the album. I truly enjoy all of the songs and the title track probably one of the best single she's ever released so far (after Four Seasons). Taeyeon delivered a great project like she knows how to do. Top 3: INVU, Weekend & Siren SPOTIFY 24. Special - Lizzo (July 15, 2022) Her major-label debut "Cuz I Love You" was fairly good. and because of that, combined with Lizzo's obvious talent, everyone expected this to be the real deal and to me, she succefully did it with this album. At points, it can be overproduced and the lyrics are well intended but they can be really preachy at points. But even with all of that, it is a fun ride and I was constantly finding myself bopping my head to most of the tracks in here. Top 3: 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready), Special & Everybody's Gay SPOTIFY 23. Magic - Nas (December 24, 2021) Despite this album being labelled as more of transitional project while Nas finishes up "King's Disease III", he delivers on every songs on this 9 track project. Hit-Boy did a terrific job with the beats and it's a nice surprise that Nas added another highlight to his discography just before 2021 ended. The short runtime is also not a problem since it's just killer track after killer track. Top 3: Speechless, Meet Joe Black & The Truth SPOTIFY 22. We - Arcade Fire (May 6, 2022) I liked this album quite a bit more than I expected to. The band has always loved their Part I/II song pairs, and they basically made the entire album out of them this time. Overall, ths is an excellent album. It is depressing to listen to but however, the music and the lyrics are spot on. Top 3: End of the Empire I-III, The Lightning II & Unconditional II (Race and Religion) (feat. Peter Gabriel) SPOTIFY 21. YOUNHA 6th Album Repackage 'END THEORY : Final Edition' - Younha (March 30, 2022) Luckily, I started listening to this album waaaay before "Event Horizon" went HUGE viral on South Korea so it didn't change my perspective towards album but overall, as a repackage album (aka basically Deluxe version) this is a solid body of work. If you like more ballad Kpop song, this album will satify your need. Trust. Top 3: Here, Truly & Savior SPOTIFY

Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 40. INVU - Taeyeon (February 14, 2022 from the album INVU Taeyeon finally snatched a good demo for her comeback single (after "Weekend" of course). She's serving MPG behaviour on this song for sure SPOTIFY 39. No Love (with SZA & Cardi B) - Summer Walker (March 25, 2022) The way I was burst out laughing when Cardi's vocal open the song like- Why was she starting to sing all of the sudden? SZA's OG verse and the chorus are just THAT good so why bother doing the Cardi remix in the first place?? SPOTIFY 38. SPOTIFY 32. Where you are (feat. WILLOW) - PinkPantheress (April 22, 2022) Willow sure did some questionable collabs with Camila Cabello & YUNGBLUD to downright AWFUL with MGK collab in 2022, but wow she truly did redeem herself with this song like WOAH SPOTIFY 31. The Foundations of Decay - My Chemical Romance (May 12, 2022) MCR might have gave the biggest surprise drop in 2022 and it's amazing Melodically gorgeous and totally epic at the same time. It's easily one of the best songs they've ever written. SPOTIFY
