MP2K Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 89. FKA twigs - jealousy (feat. rema) You can tell by how much fun she had filming the music video that she had always wanted to delve into an afrobeat inspired song like this. Her most pop-forward songs and she nailed it. Favorite bit: Waves of motion moving in my life 88. BIA - LONDON (feat. J. Cole) Not a big BIA fan but she delivered on the chorus in her signature raspy flow, it works well on this type of track. This song also reflects how J. Cole is still rapping at a very high level in 2022. This is the best 32 bars of the year by any male rapper, despite this lower ranking. Favorite bit: Literally, J. Cole’s outstanding performance 87. Kendrick Lamar - N95 This is easily the most hype and radio-ready song on Mr. Morales & The Big Steppers, but it still holds on to the grit and substance that guides the rest of the project as he addresses mental health, the global pandemic, and superficial coping mechanisms. Favorite bit: the woozy beat 86. Sudan Archives – Home Maker Favorite bit: the chorus and interlude section 85. Hatchie – Quicksand Favorite bit: the chorus
TalkThatRihanna Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Yuck stanning Hold The Girl a bop as well
TheWayWeWere Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Quicksand is such a serve Jelaously one of the biggest bops on the mixtape nnnn nawt Yuck Satellite the best out from HH Hold the Girl (song) is my favorite from album
ATRL Moderator Ace Reject Posted December 26, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 26, 2022 I need to listen to Hatchie!

Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 HER, Treat Me, SUMMER RENAISSANCE, Deep In The World, DESPECHÁ, jealousy & Quicksand are all bops like WOAH
MP2K Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 (edited) 84. Girlpool – Faultline Favorite bit: “And all the days regret the city lights / I know it's just the fault of the Faultline” 83. Spoon - My Babe Favorite bit: the build up to the hard guitar riffs 82. Lucky Daye – Guess Favorite bit: the Usher “U Don’t Have to Call” sample 81. Sharon Van Etten – Mistakes Sharon is so diverse; she can shift from s bop to a powerful indie rock anthem. “Mistakes” is about embracing self-acceptance and humility and its super fun. Favorite bit: the synth Instrumental Edited December 27, 2022 by MP2K
MP2K Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 80. carolesdaughter - Target Practice Just a fun fired-up punk anthem for young misfits dealing with bullies. Favorite bit: the chorus 79. LCD Soundsystem - new body rhumba This really takes us back to their dance-punk roots after a smidge of a slower pace from American Dream. Favorite bit: Nancy on the second chorus 78. The 1975 – I’m In Love With You Favorite bit: the opening guitar piece 77. FKA twigs - oh my love Favorite bit: Abigail Sakari’s outro reading queen 76. Kelela – Happy Ending The follow-up to “Washed Away” we needed. I know she didn’t captivate us immediately with her return, but she warned us that bangers were on the way. This is a smash to me! A love song, sung in her signature style, over a rave-like production and hearty synth stabs. I’m excited for what she has next. Favorite Bit: the breaks that allow the instrumental to shine
MP2K Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 (edited) 75. Diplo – Don’t Forget My Love (feat. Miguel) Favorite bit: the saxophone (it's NOT the corny one we're use to in mainstream music) 74. Charli XCX – Constant Repeat Favorite bit: “Do you realize / I could have been the one to change your life? / You could have had a bad girl by your side” 73. Tinashe - HMU for a Good Time She successfully pulled off this generations Janet Jackson “Rock With U.” Thank god for the new makeover this track received, the reception and popularity would not have matched had the original version was the official. Favorite bit: “Ay, bet you wanna be a friend to me” 72. Flo – Not My Job Their first of many entries. This sounds straight out of 2002, played on the radio between What About Us by Brandy and Fast Cars by Craig David. It’s that nostalgic pop-laced R&B but still modern. Everyone solves issues other people have created in romantic relationships and FLO is not having it! This is a girl power anthem. Favorite bit: the humanized intro and harmonized outros 71. Beyoncé – AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM Ciara would be so proud because this is legit her realm that Bey tapped into, and it works. You know that Miami Bass-roller skate rink jams. Favorite bit: “Twenty, forty, eighty out the trap, hit it with the rap / Put it on the map, then we right back” Edited December 27, 2022 by MP2K
dreamofyou Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 jealousy and quicksand oh my love should be higher so yass

ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 27, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2022 Faultline AHAP is one of the worst songs on Renaissance imo
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 oh my love, Happy Ending, Not My Job & AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM acclaim Constant Repeat should've been singles i fear Truly the top 3 of the album
TalkThatRihanna Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Constant Repeat and Not My Job America Has a Problem is so underrated
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 28, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2022 Yas hatchie praise! Quicksand is prob my bottom of the singles, only cause its a Stay With Me 2.0 and not as good. Glad you enjoy though. AHAP is a VERY interesting and very good choice I think the reason why I do like it so much is it does give legend Ci.HMU & CR amazing choices
Sanguine Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Constant Repeat (best song on the album with ease), Not My Job, America Has a Problem I'm In Love With You and Mistakes from the updates before were great as well! I was never a huge 1975 fan but that was prob their best album
Into The Void Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 hmu for a good time, constant repeat, america has a problem
potent Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I'm In Love With You a BOP I should have checked out Spoon and Sharon Van Etten more this year. I liked what I heard (as well as some of their past stuff) but then kinda forgot about it. Gonna listen to your picks though. Don't Forget My Love I did forget about (lol) but it's cute. Bey charting well on another list too.
MP2K Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 70. The Weeknd - Out of Time “Out of Time” is one of the few standouts from Dawn FM and probably one of his better Weeknd vocal performances. The song is emotional with in-depth messages, has a feel like it would fit into the ‘80s jukeboxes with Prince, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan. Marvin Gaye – it sounds classic! Favorite Bit: Tomoko Aran “Midnight Pretenders” sample 69. Post Malone - I Like You (A Happier Song) (with Doja Cat) I always swear I’ll never like another Post Malone song and then he just continues to make a cute pop song every now and then. Favorite Bit: “Let's take a lil' dip, lil' lady, hit PCH, 180” 68. Tove Lo – 2 Die 4 Full of high energy. Tove Lo nailed her first sampled song ever with Hot Butter's iconic 1972 single 'Popcorn.' Favorite Bit: the beat drop followed by the sampled instrumental he chorus 67. Bad Bunny – El Apagón It’s giving rave music. The mixes of reggaetón, house music, and Latin percussion is great. I’m a sucker for a buildup/climax, a 2-3 song packaged into one. All this to say, Bad Bunny balances Puerto Rican pride with a call to action for the injustice in his homeland. Favorite Bit: “puerto rico está bien cabrón”
MP2K Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 66. Sharon Van Etten – Porta Favorite Bit: the climatic vocal performance on the post-chorus 65. Kendrick Lamar - Die Hard (feat. Blxst & Amanda Reifer) One of the best songs from “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” speaks to the nervousness that comes with putting your heart in someone else’s hands. I love the contrast of the voices of the two featured artists and Kendrick’s mellow delivery. This is almost swan song like energy he’s bringing, the album as a whole and I don’t like that. Favorite Bit: the chorus and post-chorus 64. Brent Faiyaz – ALL MINE Favorite Bit: the toxicity in the first verse 63. Normani – Fair Since this came out, for a long time this was song of the year at one point. Beautifully written, great hook and song structure. This is a slow jam and follow-up single that should have support behind it. What is seriously going on? Favorite Bit: the pre-chorus 62. Harry Styles – Daydreaming Favorite Bit: the catchy backing vocals
