Alex Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 So many good songs omgg Talk, Mercury, Where You Are, Holding Back, Shirt no comment on Beg For You
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 C’mon Baby. Cry, Father Time, ENERGY, 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) Talk & Beg for You are such fun tracks. also CANDY, Shirt & I’M THAT GIRL are just... THAT girl
TrueBlood Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 136. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Spitting Off the Edge of the World 134. beabadoobee – Talk 132. PinkPantheress - Where you are (feat. WILLOW) 131. Charli XCX – Beg for You (feat. Rina Sawayama) 130. Beyoncé – I’M THAT GIRL 126. SZA – Shirt Good songs here!
MP2K Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 (edited) 125. Yves Tumor - Secrecy Is Incredibly Important To The Both of Them It’s like you’re falling down a black and white spiral at rapid speed. The drums and guitars lash me! Favorite bit: the song’s eerily enchanting atmosphere. 124. Kendrick Lamar – We Cry Together (feat. Taylour Paige) Aw, straights and their problems. This is poetic, chaotic and clever, a change of pace from the album and nothing that has been done in ages. Favorite bit: the simplicity of the piano loop and predictable ending. 123. Joji – Dissolve He drops the piano for some guitar licks that make things more rhythmic but still emotionally charged. Favorite bit: the chorus 122. Brent Faiyaz – PRICE OF FAME I’m a sucker for long songs with multiple sonic switches. You got an alternative percussion backed by Faiyaz’s delicate, distorted voice before transitioning into a 808s & Heartbreak-influenced symphony. Favorite bit: When the track closes out with chaotic strings and airy vocals 121. MUNA - Anything But Me A breakup anthem you can sway to. Favorite bit: the self-assurance and confident lyrics Edited December 20, 2022 by MP2K
MP2K Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 120. Omar Apollo – Talk Evergreen is great, and pretty much everything he’s released this year that’s heightened his popularity. But I showed most love to “Talk,” it’s a bop and showcases a more upbeat tempo and pop serving we're not use to Omar. Favorite bit: How the pace quickens rapidly 119. Mitski - Love Me More Mitski always delivers a compelling story about self-identity and validation in a difficult relationship. Favorite bit: When the chorus starts to progress, barreling over the '80s synths 118. ScHoolboy Q – Soccer Dad Oh, he’s taking names here. The boastfulness he's selling from the soccer field stands as a dad and dragging all the little rappers in the game. Favorite bit: the play on lyrics and 70s detective movie horn loop and militant drums. 117. Wet Leg – Ur Mum One of the funniest diss tracks to your exes with tongue in cheek lyricism. Favorite bit: "when I think about what you've become, I feel sorry for your mum" 116. Kendrick Lamar – Purple Hearts (feat. Ghostface Killah & Summer Walker) “Purple Hearts” conveys how emotionally taxing navigating through this world we live in can be. Favorite bit: the shift in the productions atmosphere during Ghostface Killah’s verse.
MP2K Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 1. Sabrina Carpenter - nonsense 2. PinkPantheress - Boy's a Liar Update: 3. FLO - Losing You What in the Destiny's Fulfilled-Waiting to Exhale-**** is this? These girls have mastered a pop earworm, nostalgic feels with modern twists and this one here they feel like veterans in the R&B game with a big power ballad. I'm thoroughly impressed by their vocal ability and harmonies so early in their career. They have nothing else to prove but to...dance, maybe? 4. RAYE - Escapism. (feat. 070 Shake) This gives me Rated R vibes. I may need to check out more from RAYE since I liked her collab with Disclosure.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Anything But Me Love Me More chorus is absolutely unforgettable Escapism's praise truly one of her best songs ever!
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 We Cry Together is such as serve. it's like someone make a song out of movie's dialogue i love it PRICE OF FAME, Talk, Love Me More & Purple Hearts are all bop too Losing You & Escapism. acclaim like- We need their full album RIGHT NOW. I can wait for Raye in February but i want it now
ARTPØP Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Escapism on your rising So excited to see that song potentially becoming a big hit in 2023!
MP2K Posted December 25, 2022 Author Posted December 25, 2022 115. Brent Faiyaz – ROLLING STONE King of Toxic R&B addresses his struggles with the fame he's acquired and battles with love, going back and forth with boasting himself up and being self-loathing. Favorite bit: “I'm rich as **** and I ain't nothing at the same time” Entire verse 2 really 114. Joyce Wrice – Iced Tea (with KAYTRANADA) Favorite bit: mellow vocals over classic KAYTRANADA production. 113. Coco Jones – ICU With a bit of Jazmine Sullivan’s absence this year (loved “Roster”), Coco Jones stepped up to the plate with an incredible R&B serving. “ICU” is about the push and pull of being in a relationship where the circumstances have changed. There’s great analogies, raw vulnerability and good song writing here. Favorite bit: Powerhouse vocals, her tone, and the runs on the chorus. 112. Lucky Daye - Feels Like Favorite bit: the joyful feel good chorus 111. Mitski - Stay Soft It’s a hit, queen Mitski delivered her first sex song! Favorite bit: her vulnerable delivery
TRF. Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Yves Tumor and Joyce Wrice also FLO, PinkPantheress and Raye in the Rising chart
MP2K Posted December 25, 2022 Author Posted December 25, 2022 110. Empress Of – Save Me Favorite bit: the live strings 109. Tinashe – Naturally After a stream of up-tempo bops from the 333 era, I love the simplicity here; the focus is on nashe’s vocal performance and I love how smooth yet groovy this is. It’s breezy yet suited for all seasons. Favorite bit: the sleek production 108. Kim Petras – XXX Favorite bit: the fun chorus 107. Megan Thee Stallion – HER Meg is in need of quality control when it comes to her choruses because all 3 verses are chef’s kiss. Great change of flows, great change of pace. Overall, Megan showing that she can diversify her discography and still remain fun and boastful. Favorite bit: The spitfire verses and the choreography in the MV 106. Chlöe - Treat Me Favorite bit: the distorted vocal section and vocal runs on the outro
MP2K Posted December 25, 2022 Author Posted December 25, 2022 105. Shygirl - Coochie (A Bedtime Story) Never laughed and never bopped so hard in my life. Great replay value! Favorite bit: the sweet, relaxed tone and effects and salacious lyrics. 104. Charli XCX – Used To Know Me Favorite bit: this sample never gets old 103. Summer Walker - No Love (with SZA & Cardi B) Feels like this came out forever ago! But this was a fan favorite off ‘Still Over It’ and glad it received single attention. I thought the addition of Cardi worked more than what was received by the public. Favorite bit: The contrast between SZA and Summer’s on the track. 102. Vince Staples – LEMONADE (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) Vince use to be so hard but now he’s unpredictable; soft and sentimental. Especially on this modern g-funk track! Favorite bit: earworm vocal hook and weighty bass 101. Robyn - Buffalo Stance (feat. Nenah Cherry & Mapei) Favorite bit: Mapei's return

TheWayWeWere Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 Stay Soft Save Me is one of my favorite pop songs this year Naturally a hit that got away HER is a major bop Used to Know Me should've have BMS success tbh yeah, No Love remix is so nice, such an easy classic r&b feeling Buffalo Stance so nice to see it here!!!
MP2K Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 100. Beyoncé – SUMMER RENAISSANCE Favorite bit: The bridge 99. Shygirl – Firefly The music genius of Shygirl took a Trey Songz Sample and made it into an emotional '90s dance hyperpop banger that transcends you to another dimension. What!? Favorite bit: the cuts and mixing of the instrumental 98. Pusha T - Neck & Wrist (feat. JAY-Z & Pharrell William) Pusha T has been delivering for a while, but it’s JAY-Z that blew me away here. His best verse offering in such a while, one of my favorite build ups to a verse of the year. Favorite bit: The post-chorus with Pharrell before Jay-Z mysteriously enters on verse 2 97. Charli XCX – Yuck Favorite bit: "quit acting like a puppy, ****, going all lovey-dovey on me" 96. Alex G – Runner I randomly came across this and instantly fell in love. The minimalism here is what makes things so memorable, the verses and chorus are just 2-3 lines and everything he’s singing about it open to your interpretation. It has a mid-90s alternative rock feel that snatched me up. This could be playing during an iconic scene/outro from a box office flick. Favorite bit: “Load it up, know your trigger like the back of my hand” 95. Harry Styles – Satellite Favorite bit: the mixing during the bridge is a change of pace
MP2K Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 94. Ravyn Lenae – Deep In The World On this underrated track Ravyn portrays herself as both supernatural and vulnerable. Such a sweet tender vocal performance that makes you feel like you’re floating. Favorite bit: the background vocals and adlibs 93. FKA twigs - ride the dragon Favorite bit: “Do it quickly, do it, do it, do it, quickly, do it, do it” adlib 92. PinkPantheress - Picture In My Mind (feat. Sam Gellaitry) A bop! One of her longest songs to date. Sugary sweet vocals over an electronic groove. Favorite bit: the outro
MP2K Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) 91. Rina Sawayama – Hold The Girl What starts off as a laidback track that allows Sawayama's retrospective lyrics to take center stage then has contrasting moments that are danceable. Love an organized chaos. Favorite bit: the powerhouse vocal performance in the last chorus 90. ROSALÍA – DESPECHÁ Favorite bit: her rap section on the bridge Edited December 26, 2022 by MP2K
